My dad gets 18mpg out of a 2006 chevy crew 2wd, depends on how you drive and you can tell how he drives because mine would be 14 out of the same truck

Re: My first project truck - 84 Chevy swb

Ive got an 02 Silverado shortwide with 2" drop shackles that gets around 21 mpg. Its an auto 2wd roll up windows and manual locks. But it only has 64k miles. May actually sell it soon too. Oh yeah has the 4.3 v6.

Re: My first project truck - 84 Chevy swb

Ive decided to keep it. I dont know what i was thinking, although 9 and a half mpg's can make you think, and a drive it quite a bit.. But I cant let this truck go! Anyways changed the oil, fuel filter, oil filter, and air filter today, which was much needed

Glad you are keeping it. It will never be an economy vehicle, but I hope you can improve your mileage.

Glad to hear it man. I know how depressing the gas situation is right now. However, you would have really kicked yourself down the road for selling it. Trust me I know more times than I would care to share.

Re: My first project truck - 84 Chevy swb

I might have missed it in here, but have you thought about an engine swap, Lq4 / 4L60e maybe get you around 20-22mpg?

If you look hard enough you can find the whole package for $2-3K and after spending that you still save money after years of paying at the pump with 9-10mpg.

Re: My first project truck - 84 Chevy swb

Now on to the good news! One of my bestfriends has a 84 k10. He had a stock grill he gave me, and i found a lower grill panel with trim on it and grill support at a salvage yard. So it "only" cost me $25. I got out lucky.. Also i added a little twist to the "new" grill that i think turned out awesome.

Nice truck, really like the paint and the stance it has! I'm also restoring my truck with my dad, also my first vehicle.

Been there... I understand what you mean though, I'm in college and I live at home so I drive back and forth to class all day and... it costs a lot... lol. But I don't think I could sell my truck... I just like it too much.

Wow man, that's an awesome truck. I too started my 75 C10 with my dad when I was 16. It was close to being completed and I ended up getting t-boned on my way to school back in May. It sucks, but I'm slowly buying new parts to get her looking pretty again!

Sorry to hear about the motivation to swap grills, but it turned out good. If you want I have a set of 85-87 headlight buckets. I always liked them better than the 83-84 ones. Just my .02 though.
