Well the crew cab I want to end up on 38x15.5... I'm actually talking to the company I got my lift from in hopes to trade it out and bring it down to a 4 inch lift so it will have 6 total between the body lift..it will be 4" with cutout flares or 8" with regular pocket flares... Either set up to run 38" max Tire hight... My biggest thing is I don't want great big road noisy mud chuckers ... Most of my driving will be pavement and some gravel camping

Re: My crewcab 4x4 cummins project

Well I ended up taking the front end back off n started to clean up the fire wall... Got the vintage air test fitted and it fits like a glove just have to tweak the heater core lines a bit ... Also found a rusty area around the brake booster fire wall support so I cut it out n replaced the rusty section... Trying to get my hand on a rotisary or build on for the cab so I can finish the underside up...

My 76 has a rusty spot in the same spot. Dang the luck. The Vintage air panel looks nice!

Re: My crewcab 4x4 cummins project

Yeah it kinda sucked... This was it so I cut it out and replaced it I'm also going to replace the tin where the fuse box goes and e brake n clutch master... Little heavier metal and roll beads into it... The fire wall where the e brake is is all cracked around the mount holes

Re: My crewcab 4x4 cummins project

Woo cabs off.... Instead of messing around with a rotisary which I did find but would have to build mounts I decided to go this rout... Lined the floor with styrafoam insulation then an insulation bat so it's well cushioned all I really have to do on the underside is blast and seam seal and undercoat... While the cabs off I can finally do some finishing touches on mounts and drive line angles ... Then it's traction bar mounts and out side it
Goes for some sand blasting I guess... Yay

Hard work calls for a beer or three till a guy is properly hydrated to stand up the cab on end

Re: My crewcab 4x4 cummins project

Well I finally got the tranny mount and transfer case mount finished up now that the cab is off... Looking to get the bottom of the cab blasted and under coated before the end of the month... And possibly the frame blasted if my welder shows up...

Re: My crewcab 4x4 cummins project

Picked up the rest of the sheet metal I needed found a good driver rear door and a rust free rad support and what I thought was a good tail gate... Sanded the gate down and it's full of bondo... Anyone order a tailgate from lmc? The more expensive "oem" gate not the cheap one?

So for a piece of mine I'm going to replace the bottem section of the door a few inches make sure everything is good...

None of the above... It's a victory cross country... ...

Well the bottom of the cab is ready for a blast and epoxy, new seam sealer and an under coat job

Re: My crewcab 4x4 cummins project

That T-case mount looks real good but I would tie both sides of the mounts together or else it will put a lot of extra stress on those 4 bolts which could cause them to eventually snap.

Re: My crewcab 4x4 cummins project

Ended up blasting the bottom of the cab yesterday and primed ... This morning I ran over it with some sand paper and seam sealed and under coated the cab... Just waiting for my short shaft to show up and check fitment before the drive line comes out and the frame gets blasted... Picked up a gallon of por 15 chassis paint ... Really strong and lays out nice plus it's uv resistant not like the rust coat

Re: My crewcab 4x4 cummins project

Looks nice! I used por15 cjassis coat on my Longhorn. I did the front frame in August, and it still shines nice. I figured it wouldn't last much longer than the regular stuff, but it has.

Re: My crewcab 4x4 cummins project

Woo finally looking like its getting somewhere... Gotta get all the stuff ordered for the diffs going stock in the front maybe with an axle upgrade and 4.56 gears . The rear is going to get a Detroit tru track with 4.56 as well. Need to find one new shackel hanger for the front... Bushing pounded out the mount so I cut them off... Anyone know if a guy can find new ones or is this a junk yard deal?
