Re: My first C10 build, can't wait.

I got axle pads cut out and tacked together. I hope to get them finalized tonight so that I can bring them back into work and have them Tigged together.

I also got good news about my transmission. I should be able to pick it up tomorrow night. This works out perfect because I was planning on taking Friday off to hopefully finalize the suspension.

Looks like early Christmas with all the new parts! Nice work on the axle pads. It's always fun to fabricate parts, just because you can.

Yes sir. I love getting new parts.

It helps to have CAD on my desk at work and 3 lasers in the shop the size of busses, oh yea and a prototype cell that works for us and doesn't mind the occasional government work. Makes things a lot nicer. The next thing an all stainless gas tank that I drew up for the frame rails.

I have the same plan for making my own gas tank too. Just don't have access to sheet metal tools anymore. I will build my own eventually.
I'm with you on the "G" jobs....:

Here are a few shots of mine. Pretty much the same dimensions. I have added a few internal baffles also. All 18ga SS.
26.5 x 19 x 10 at the deep end.
I am going to use a universal float with a mechanical fuel pump on the block.

You mind sharing your model? I haven't done anything for baffles yet. If not, no biggy I can make some on mine. Very nice work BTW

I don't mind sharing. I need to clean up my history tree a little and then I can pass it along. It may be a couple days and I will pass it on to you.

Thank you. I wish it were faster but it is moving along. Sucks that winter is around the corner.

Isn't she darling.
I like your work and I'm looking forward to future progress.

She is pretty darn cute. I am just depressed my Hello Kitty shirt is too small for me now. Definately more progress to come after this weekend.

Pcking up some parts tonight from a friend of a friend: new (old) fenders with no rust, a windshield, a grill that does not look like swiss cheese, and a tilt column.

Also getting my new tranny tonight for install tomorrow (I hope)

Oh yea and getting a 2 piece drive shaft from a different buddy. Lots of work to do.

Thanks. Once I get done with this suspension it is back to tackling hopefully my last spots of rust which is the inner roof. I am waiting on a full patch panel to come in along with some new cab corners. After I get that crap fixed, I am hoping it is as close to rust free as it can be without cutting the entire thing open, which is the only way to ensure that.

Yeah as you saw on my build I just found the same problem with mine on the inner roof. I swear I never saw it before I know why they call it cancer now, just appears right before your eyes. I'll fix it after I get the truck moved to my garage. I'm hoping it's only that little spot but I might be ordering the same patch you did and just replace the whole area.

I was thinking the same thing but there are about 8 pinholes in mine and I'm sure it's worse than that. The patch was like $65 bucks and I sure it wil be wort it.

I am so motivated to get the cab on this thing now. But I better get the fuel lines and gas lines ran first.
