Re: Project Evil Tow Rig - '87 CC SRW Conversion

You don't want to know...and honestly, I'd rather not know either...

Mine were pretty much destroyed and the retractor assemblies, springs and the plastic covers were gone as well. So total, these were $700, but if you just need re-chroming, detailing, and new webbing, it's probably under $500 for all three belts. My fronts are going to be less than the rears because of all the parts they needed to replace to get them to even function properly.

I have 2 extra rear trim inserts, 3 extra passenger side fronts, 1 extra passenger dash trim insert, but cannot find the driver side STILL! I am getting discouraged, but I will continue to search high and low...keep me posted and if you happen to find the driver side ones, buy me 1 or 2 an I will PayPal you immediately! I'll do the same for you!

Amazing work, I am at the interior stage on both my 83 K1500, and my 69 Pontiac Firebird. Your thread gives me lots of ideas and ambition! Very well done! I can't wait to see more!

I did SEM's low luster clear on everything hoping to protect against scratching but I have a feeling when the truck goes in for paint all the interior panels will be re-shot and cleared with catalyzed paint because this stuff probably won't hold up well in the long run.

Also, the 4L80E swap is almost done...the linkage system is all that's left and then program the Compushift 2 unit!

The crew cab went out on its maiden voyage this morning! The new 4L80E performs flawlessly with the Compushift 2 controller and Greg Ducato's (Phoenix Transmissions - Weatherford, TX) full Kevlar clutched and TIG reinforced extreme towing converter! just have a few minor loose ends to tie up and mount the controller and we will be golden!

How do you like that converter? Is it as tight as stock?

It's perfect, 1600rpm and super tight on it...Greg sure did a good job! Flogging it to try and find any faults the temp never got above 155 degrees so I'm going to venture and say it should do the job!

Re: Project Evil Tow Rig - '87 CC SRW Conversion

The truck has some progress over the last couple weeks! don't mind the ugly brown bed, it's just a temporary fleetside unit until I find a cherry bed to go on the truck...

It's a full 6" lift, all new drive shafts, Stainless brake lines, Bilstein 5125 stainless shocks, poly bushings galore, new Warn Premium lockouts on the cleaned up Dana 60 front, 4" drop pitman arm and 2" lift steering block, 35x12.50r17 10-ply Toyo M/T's on 17x9 Classic II's,

You can sort of tell, but the front wheel wells are all under coated and various parts painted and powder coated.

Billet grille is all in with LMC's new custom clear parking lamp housings and V-LED's best clusters. I also got new GM NOS side parking lamp housings with 3-chip LED's. The headlights are all new Silverstar sealed beams for now, fully reprinted the radiator core area behind the grille with satin black and re-finished the silver headlight bezels as well.*

Mmmmmm, wheels!

I love the 3" long super duplex lugs and notice the custom Bowtie center cap badges that Vince over at Motor City Vinyl made for me...

Re: Project Evil Tow Rig - '87 CC SRW Conversion

Alright, we put another inch of lift into the rear and it made a big difference! I'm 120% happy with it now! I got the new floor mats today as well and I have all the exterior lights done and converted to LED with all new lenses ad housings, now I'm working in the speaker pods/lower door panels now, so once I have the stereo system done it will be time for body work and paint!
