AHHHH poop! I see what your saying. You mean the stainless trim has been switched left to right. WOW such a small change makes the entire grill look weird and Much cooler at the same time!

Re: How about some pics of 73-87 Long Beds?

My most missed vehicle I've ever sold...

87 GMC K3500HD

I was a railroad truck that I got from the second owner. He purchased it from the RR where he worked. It was his truck and when it was time to replace it, he got it from the RR.

It was immaculate! It had the HD 6.2, with a T475 trans and a NP205.

Cool thing, it never came with a factory tow package (pretty unusual for a 1 ton)

I don't have any pics of it before some idiot stole my GMC grill...

Re: How about some pics of 73-87 Long Beds?

Hello. I am new to the site and to working on these trucks. I'm glad I found a place to discuss these great trucks. Below are some pictures of a 1986 GMC Classic 2500 that I picked up recently. I will be getting to work on the brakes this weekend as it needs a new master cylinder. Let me know what you think of this one. If anyone has any idea what the rims are on this truck and if they actually came on this type of truck I would appreciate you telling me a little about them. Thanks.

The rims are off the General Lee. They definitely did not come on your truck.

Seriously, i think all these came with were white 6" wide wheels and dog bowl hubcaps. I have put the later model (88-98) ralleys on and they look good.

If your mot going to get the ac going again, might as well toss a good set of hedders on that engine.

Re: How about some pics of 73-87 Long Beds?

We had a little car show at work today so I cleaned up the truck and brought it in. Its finally starting to clean up well after sitting for so long. Need to find some new trim pieces (wheel well, body, windshield/trim) and get some newer wheels and larger tires eventually.

Engine bay looks a TON better than it did just a couple months ago (this was the before picture):

Re: How about some pics of 73-87 Long Beds?

That is a sweet truck! The only thing I'd do to it is replace the cab mount bushings, those wheels and tires look perfect on there!

I think rubber cab mounts is the way to go, I have poly on my truck (that I haven't driven yet) but I may end up switching them out. Poly is good on all the suspension parts but on cab mounts they just don't have any give that you need to have for such a long section of frame.

If you do get new rims, keep those original ones because there in excellent shape and to buy a set that are mint are not cheap and there hard to find nowadays.

Nice truck though...

Is that a matching numbers truck??

One other thing I would do is ditch the "RED" heater hoses. Black is the only way to go. MO

does anyone have pictures of a 2 1/2-4 inch drop on a long bed. I had bought a lowering kit for my 78 chevy its a Big 10 and i took the helper spring and 1 other spring out because they were cracked. I dont no if the Big 10's have heavier coil springs or not.Thank you

Re: How about some pics of 73-87 Long Beds?

Just inherited my grandpas truck. Grandma doesnt really drive it much after my grandpa passed away about 8 years ago so I finally got it. He bought it brand new in 87. It has 262,000 miles on the original engine and tranny. Neither have ever been rebuilt. It made the 3 and a half hour drive to my house with no problems. I was hoping that after washing it and trying some NU FINISH on it then it would shine up but no luck. And yes I plan on taking the camper off.
