I don't believe so , of my three 65s all are same as the 1964. Heres from two of them, one V8 and one Six , both identical. The V8 is the 8700 mile K20.

Wondering now if your core support is from a GMC ? I looked at my 66 GMC , horn relay is on driver side inner fender and I don't see the holes in the core support for a voltage regulator. GMCs Voltage regulator is on passenger side inner fender.

There is actually 3 holes, I guess the reg would have to be nut and bolted.

Crap. That white stuff on the floor is stock?! When I took my mat out, I thought that was hardware store stuff that a PO put in there. Tossed it. Oops.

Re: The 1960 - 1966 Chevrolet & GMC Pickups Factory Correct Restoration Thread

Heres the hang tag on the shifter , tag was pretty dull. Also , in the glove box of many were the factory license plate bolts and nuts for front and rear in little envelopes.

Any idea what that hang tag says? My 66 Ford F100 has a similar hang tag... still hanging!

here are a couple factory shots of a group of '60 gmc engines, and a '62 gmc engine.

notice on both that the exhaust manifolds are on the motor before paint. also notice how the 62 gmc motor looked to be almost fully assembled before paint with the overspray on the fuel pump and water pump hose clamps and hose.

Great pictures Jon. These two pictures confirm what your saying. These are from a very low mile 62 GMC that was on Ebay a few months back. Still has the orange on the manifolds. Very similar painting technique as the 1959 Impala from Lambrecht.

Re: The 1960 - 1966 Chevrolet & GMC Pickups Factory Correct Restoration Thread

I pulled this clutch return spring off of a 66, it sort of cleaned up and showed a neat mint green that it was painted.
(the little mount on the front is off a 63, and I am wondering if it is 63 only? the spring that was with the mount was a little different than this one, it had a short front and the coils started right away, I am thinking they did away with this mount, and changed the spring a bit so the coils wouldn't hit the frame?)

also I had to replace an axle seal on the 65 and redid the rear brakes, the axle grease preserved the colors on the brake springs on this side: the 2 upper are gray, the adjuster is white, the little one red, the lower spring mint green, and the e-brake spreader spring is light blue.

1966 frame markings

This was found on the last brace at the rear of the frame so it was hard to see. It's also upside down but it reads C1434 in white crayon or grease pencil.

The interior medium fawn was painted over the red oxide primer. Then the exterior color was applied over both the primer and the fawn overspray.Mine is an old barn truck that has seen better days have a look at the color layers.

You can see again that the red primer can be seen on the back of the cab by the sail panel. Below the rear window again you can see the medium fawn under the black paint...

So they hung and aligned the doors on the bare cabs, sprayed the interior (including door jambs), then closed the doors, masked the windows and sprayed the exterior of the cab? This would have had to be without the fenders and cowl extensions in place.
That's the only way I can see it working.

Re: The 1960 - 1966 Chevrolet & GMC Pickups Factory Correct Restoration Thread

For the knee-knockers, was the Custom Cab option available WITHOUT the side trim on the body?
Question two: Was two-tone roof available without the Custom chrome sail panels?

I know they changed where the paint divide was from '60-'63; does anybody have pics or factory reference material showing the Two Tone Paint combinations for all four years?

Re: The 1960 - 1966 Chevrolet & GMC Pickups Factory Correct Restoration Thread

Hi. Im new to this and I purchased a 1961 Chevy pickup. I was wondering if anyone knows how to tell if the truck is either a C10 or an Apache? I looked on the actual title and I did a VIN search and it only states 1961 Chevy PU. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
