Listened to punk / alternative as a kid and morphed in to rock as an adult. 4-5 years ago just wasn't feeling the new rock stuff and tried out country. I never jelled with it until I discovered alternative country / red dirt / americana. I have not looked back.
Lots of great stuff but Cody Jinks, Uncle Lucius, and William Clark Green are 3 of my favorites https://youtu.be/pYdvxBxHX2U https://youtu.be/Pwa0BPlr9_Q https://youtu.be/z61Cz7zoVW4 |

Here's one of the tunes I loved when I was a kid: https://youtu.be/yX1XSOzDPik I had kinda forgot about it, and then several years ago I heard a very fine local band here covering the later version that added the lyrics: https://youtu.be/qzuifcwDqIo And then I heard Joss Stone using it again. Listen close to the music in this one: https://youtu.be/rtNIqxBPfVQ Samantha Fish covers some classic old soul tunes on her recent Chills and Fever CD. There's better versions of this, but I was actually at this show: https://youtu.be/cpSBEo5JbC0 And then a week later at our blues fest: https://youtu.be/Le3scYhg_gE I'm visible in that vid, even though it's more of an interview. As a charter member of the local blues society, my job at the fest is guarding the stage door, checking for back stage passes and that. (talk about the fox guarding the henhouse) but at 40 seconds in and then about 2:18, I'm the one in the blue shirt peeking around the corner

Re: What kind of Music do YOU like ? Post it up, Please
Yeah Pritch, so much good music you could forget about one type or another for years. No measure of it's value, just so much to keep track of and we do fall into our own trends for music the suits our lives at the time. Soul is always good to hear, yet I don't go running to it on a regular basis. Also, nostalgia comes into play to blend how we liked the music then with the good feelings it brings back to memory.
I could say I'm all about American Music, the roots and the most raw to refined and tweaked traditional that puts guitar as the prime melody maker. But music morphs between forms and, when it comes down to it, there is that which we like to identify with then there is that which we can't deny is just good damn music. Horns aren't my go to sound, but when they are right, they are right. James Brown makes me feel good https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U5TqIdff_DQ Makes me want to get on up-a https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZilMcI-vNlE But he knows who's world this is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eE0taRRlIIs

But yeah I’m into the heavy stuff, I’ve really been listening to more Symphonic metal recently though. Did you check out Solution.45? They’re one of my favorites of all time, their vocalist is insanely talented.

Not many bluegrass fans here, but just wanted to share this.
A local group who are all between 14 and 16 years old. They were doing a "warm up" here outside where the concert was:

I also realized there's a drum set and stereo in the back room. Think I'll break this in. Forgot to mention, speaking of somewhat monster rock, I caught Judas Priest in concert around 1979. I never liked them, and on top of that security stole my pipe...............Yikes, felony back in the day but we often ignored. Worse, I've seen movie theaters with a pound of weed lunged up every few minutes max. I'm pretty sure that's not an option today, but go figure it's now sold and taxed downtown.

Re: What kind of Music do YOU like ? Post it up, Please
Nooo I didn’t mean it like that at all shortbed402. I have serious respect for all the original rock and metal bands. Even if they’re not my cup of tea, the music I listen to wouldn’t exist without them. And now, thanks to you, I have a a deep respect for monster rock..haha sorry could resist Just forget that last sentence is there.
You lost me a little bit on the first post living alone stuff. The only commute I can make in ten minutes is to my neighbors house, I live out in the middle of nowhere. I was never a Judas Priest fan either. But supposedly the singer can sing in a crazy number of octaves and some no one else can sing in, so gotta respect the talent.

That band has a very interesting sound, never really heard anything like them before. Since you’re into drums you need to check this guy out, his name is Giulio Galati, he is the drummer for Hideous Divinity. I know you probably wouldn’t enjoy the band all that much but this video is basically just a drum track, the guy is a freakin machine. I don’t know how many beats per minute he gets on the bass drum but it has to be encroaching on 400 per minute. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=YrAfMSCOzSo

Re: What kind of Music do YOU like ? Post it up, Please
Funny that drums and Dave Matthews were mentioned together. I can only like his music but so much or listen for so long because I hate that drum style that prevails in his songs. Just a repeated slap...slap...slap. I could never take rock ballads for the same reason. A drummer could fall asleep and keep that slap...slap...slap beat . Not that I ever got so great. I mostly played the '60s stuff but when Jimi Hendrix came along with Mitch Mitchell pounding out the most incredible front to back drumming in "Fire" it became my goal in life to get that down to memorize and play every framadiddle freedlefrap he did. I hear the guitar in the background on that song. I realize every song can't be a tribute to complex drumming, but man oh man that song is still too amazing to this day...in my mind.
Speaking of every song not having to have all the drumming squeezed in possible, I love Bluegrass too. I keep coming to mention it but when I see what has been posted I feed off of that. Also, bluegrass is one music form I prefer to listen to live. So, I don't tend to "play" much bluegrass on the stereo. We used to have a college station that played it from noon till 5 mon-fri and we'd play that at work. I love all American roots music. My antique truck buddy I go to the shows with plays fiddle and mandolin. In late Sept. we have the Tri-State show near Winchester, VA. At the same time, just down the road near Berryville, is the Watermellon Park Fest along the Shennendoah River at an RV park by that name. We like to slip over in my '72 on Saturday evening once the show slows up and trucks head out. I have heard some incredible groups from the headliners to those you may never have known of. We were sitting on the river bank eating before we went in the pay area and were lucky enough to have these three gals and a photographer (video) walk up and give us a free show...by coincidence. At about 8:35 is along the river. Me and Chuck were sitting behind and to the side of the guy recording, so what you see is what we saw. Apparently they had won the contest they had and were to go from where we were to play on stage as the winning group. I wasn't going anywhere till they were done. Such a simple pure unpretentious sound https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EgRy-Sp1rXo
