Re: 73-87 hot wheels and die cast thread

I actually have 4 gaps in my carded collection and 5 gaps in my loose collection of these. A friend came over with his collection so we could get them all together. I'm missing the expensive ones: Military Rods, Fire Rods and the upcoming 2015 Redline Club truck (the Spectraflame brown 4x4) that actually hasn't even been released yet. I don't have the white Fram truck yet, but I have a couple coming. I have the green Redline Club truck on a card, but not loose. So, to fill in the holes in both my loose and carded collections, I'm looking at a minimum of $800. Yeah, it ain't happenin' anytime soon.

Re: 73-87 hot wheels and die cast thread

Killer collection 1badgmc. I'm sure by now you have the new RLC 4x4, I have 2. I have all but the 3 spendy ones, Military, Fire & Lime Green. Military just sold for over $300 on eBay, second one in as many months. Had a chance to buy all 3 about 2 years ago for $200 but thought that was crazy...who's the crazy one now! I painted one that looked like the green one but was candy gold. I sold it a long time ago, wished I hadn't. I'll do more eventually just have to be healthy. I made up vector files of the fire, lime green and the new black 4x4. I want to do some stock color trucks with the same trim as the black one, red. yellow, blue. orange, etc...

No, like I said, those aren't ALL mine. The Military, Fire, green RLC and the new RLC 4x4 (notice it's in there too) aren't mine. They belong to a friend. I have the green RLC carded, but not loose. I'll probably never have the Military or Fire Rods trucks since their already high prices are through the roof. I'm not an RLC member, so I missed out on the new RLC 4x4 and it was on eBay for $60 less than 5 minutes after selling out. It's hard to justify that price when it's honestly my least favorite of all the trucks. It's a 4x4 and I prefer the lowered trucks and I really don't like the colors on it at all.

Have you seen this? There were supposed to be more colors released of the Modern Classics truck. It's too bad the series got cancelled before they put more out because I would have LOVED to have gotten one in Spectraflame blue!

Actually, I don't think there's any snow in that. I never saw any flakes before I went to bed last night and it doesn't feel like snow walking on it. That's sleet/frozen rain. We got 2-3" of it.

I can't work when everything is covered in snow, so I never left the house today. It's safer that way not having to deal with all the 'tards on our roads.

The new Hot Trucks 5-pack is out starring a nice, blue '83 Silverado at the top. It seems like Toys R Us is getting these first. That's where I found mine and that's where everyone I've read about so far has found theirs.

Has anyone found this 5-pack at Walmart? I hope it's not a TRU exclusive.

It's not a TRU exclusive. I've heard of some being found in other stores, but about 95% of the ones I've seen posted being found are from TRU right now. Instead of being 3 months behind everyone else like they've been for the last few years, they seem to be getting current stuff before other stores lately.

Finally found the 5-pack today. Only found 1 between 2 Walmart stores. I'll keep looking. Opened and converted to 4X4.

That's where I found mine too. I only found one set though and a ton of the flamed 62's.

Re: 73-87 hot wheels and die cast thread

Have you found both versions of the flamed '62? There's the first variation with the separate orange surfboard in the bed and the second variation has a sunroof on the cab and the surfboard is molded into the bed floor.

Re: 73-87 hot wheels and die cast thread

1badgmc, I have three of each. The first version with the surfboard came from Toys R Us and I picked up the sunroof version and few first editions at Walmart. I didn't realize they were different until the other night. Also, one of my blue 83's has a flame like whisp in the white paint. It looks likes its ghosted underneath the white in between the scallop. IdK if its a variation or just a paint defect.

Nice. I'll have to keep watching the Hot Trucks to see if I find that.

Re: 73-87 hot wheels and die cast thread

They previewed this new '83 Silverado at the LA Hot Wheels Convention this past weekend. From the way it's being described on some sites, it looks like it'll be part of another $1 Wal-Mart special series. They did a similar camo series earlier this year, but it wasn't all trucks like this one looks to be. I don't know what others are in the series, but the '83 will most certainly be the hot seller of the set.

Keep your eyes on your local Wal-Marts for the Maisto Tow & Go '87 Chevy. I finally found one yesterday. These things are already going for nearly $40 on eBay.

A little while back I bit the bullet and finally picked up the RLC and Convention '83 Silverado 4x4s.

Been a while since I've been on here. Starting a new venture so I've been busy with other things. I did a few new pieces and entered some at the 2017 Hot Wheels Convention a week ago. Got 2nd place in the Hot Category for this Honey Gold Chevy truck combo.
