What Tire sizes for 20 inch wheels?

What size tires are you guys with 20's using?

I just installed an air ride system, and ordered a set of MOB STEEL 20" smoothies.

I really like to look like this truck (not mine)

Any ideas on tire sizes for 20" wheels ??

Not sure about the size on the truck you posted. What size wheel did you go with? I just ordered the same wheel and on the front, I went 8" wide and was recommended to run a 245/45R20 or a 255/40R20. The back, I went with the 11" wide and going to fit the widest tire I can afford under there, haha.

I spoke to Spanky when I called and ordered the Detroit Steel Wheel 20 inch D-Town smoothies, on Monday morning.

He recommended 8" wide with 4.25" backspace in the front, and 9" wide, 5.00" backspace, in the rear, so that's what I ordered. I have a short fleetside box.

I have recently bagged my truck, and am using the Auto Lift 3P management system.

I have not been able to play around with it, as the truck is in winter storage, at a friends garage.

Here is my truck with the 18" wheels, I think that the 20'" smoothie wheels will look better when I drop the truck

What size tires are you going to use?

I'm unsure on the tire sizes , thats why I'm looking for advice.

Come on guys, I know that there are a lot of you running 20" wheels.

What size tires worked for you?

Re: What Tire sizes for 20 inch wheels?

I plan on switching over to a 20 inch wheel in the near future and from what I've seen, I'll be going with a 245-45 up front and initially a 315-35 on a 20 x 12 rear. The final set up will have a Mickey Thompson 29 x 15.00 x 20 (#6620) in the rear. I really like wide, meaty look in the rear...

In the front, I was thinking either 245/45/20 which is 28.5 inches tall, or a 245/40/20 which is 1 inch shorter at 27.5 inches tall.

I would like something bigger in the back, but I am worried about fitment issues, my present tire is 10 inches wide, there is not too much more room left for a wider tire.

No point in going 8"/9" front/back. That close, keep the widths the same. Or, wider out back. The actual size will depend on the width of wheels you choose. Once you decide on the width, we can zero in on the width and aspect ratio.

Re: What Tire sizes for 20 inch wheels?

I recently went to 20" x 8" rims on my 63. I bought P245/45/20" Firestone Fire Hawk tires. I did not want to throw the speedometer off by going too tall with my tire. My only regret is not going bigger in the rear and buying the 9.5" wheels for the rear. There is actually plenty of room!! However, my truck has never drove better then with these tires!! I recently added the three bar spinners, but I haven't taken any photos.

I guess I'm allowed to post this link...not sure if it breaks any rules, but check out www.tiresize.com/comparison/

This is a cool tool with images to help you get an idea of what your set-up will look like.

I'm on bags with a small c-notch in the rear and cupped lowers in the front with Delmo inner fenders. 20x8 in the front with 4.5" BS and 20x11 with 7" BS and planning to run a 255/40R20 on the front and a 335/30R20 in the rear. I'm planning on tubbing the rear.

With the stock rear end, my current rear set up is a 295-45 Nitto with 9.5" wide wheel and no fitment issues. Maybe a 295??

Re: What Tire sizes for 20 inch wheels?

The vehicle you posted has Detroit Steel wheels. 20x8 front with 4.5 BS and a 245/40/20. Rears are 20x9 4.5 Bs with 275/35/20. His Instagram is clarkk66c10pu. Had to search a lot of post to find that info because I'm copying that look also. I can't find the pic but I mounted a 245/45/20 on my American racing VN 338, and it was too fat for my liking on the front.

Thanks for the info.
I found out that the truck was up for sale at Mecum Auction Monterey in 2022, the reserve was not meet, but the bidding was up to $110,000.

Do you have any pics of your truck?

It still amazes me that someone will pay so much for a C10. I'm 42 and can remember being able to fully restore these trucks for $20k.
