Finally a nice day at the farm!

It's been a very wet winter here so I'm behind on a lot of work at the hill farm. Finally had a great day to prune and spray the fruit trees and enjoy the explosion of color. Not sure who planted them or how long ago they did it, but they did good.

So nice! This is my favorite part of the year, when everything starts to bloom. Then usually in a week or so the Texas heat kicks in.... enjoy it while we have it!

Re: Finally a nice day at the farm!

A relative owns the 160 acres adjacent to my mother’s place. On the north edge of the relative’s place is an area where some 75 years ago a house stood. Back in the day, people would plant daffodil along the walkways, fences, etc. Over the years the houses are removed, fences gone, yet, the daffodil return every year. Several years ago, the relative, wishing to get rid of the plants, used a disk to plow them under. Well, the result is he only spread them. Today there is a huge area of yellow and green each spring. Beautiful.

No spring color in Indiana yet but I'm sure ready. We are just getting a few nicer days.

Re: Finally a nice day at the farm!

Those pictures make me miss being back home in Kentucky this time of year. I love it when things green up and start to bloom. Especially knowing that it lasts for a bit.

Unfortunately for me it's still winter here. Snow everywhere and temps are still below zero in the morning. Should break soon though.

Wow! That's a lot of daffodils! Never heard of Wye Mountain before, but mine are on Crowley's Ridge close to the small town of McDougal.

Re: Finally a nice day at the farm!

Daffodils haven't popped here yet but every day gets closer. Never had any crocus bloom this year*. The weather has definitely taken a turn. I raked out my garden beds, getting ready to mulch. It's chilly here this week, upper-40s to low-50s days, frosty nights. It's time to get busy!

*Saw crocus bloomed yesterday, all over at this place I'm working on. A couple daffodils, too. Cold and rainy today (Thurs)

I sure love Colorado, and here in Durango it's feeling pretty springy, but I'm with you - something about spring makes me miss the Ohio River valley. Grew up looking at Trimble County, Kentucky, across the river. Daffodils are a sure sign spring is around the corner!
