1959 Bedside stainless insert color

Hey guys, I'm confident that the bedside stainless trucks had a red color between the vertical bars at the back end (near tail light). What I'm trying to determine is what it reflective originally or was it simply painted red...and if so, what color code?

I'm not concerned about the spear color at all.

Any help or advice and/or pictures would be much appreciated.

Picture here is for reference only as it is not my truck.

I know this may not be an answer to your question but I think it would look best body color and then the spear your two tone color. My truck being red it kind of worked out but it kind of crossed my mind to put red reflective tape but decided against it.

I have thought it would look cool to have the vertical bar space be illuminated. Cut out the sheet metal, get some red tinted plastic sheet (or cut up some donor tail light lenses) and mount bulbs behind them. Have them as running lights, tie in the turn signals, brake lights - whatever - it would be bad to the bone.

That would be neat. A guy might be able to use superbright LED's without cutting up the trim too badly.

IMHO I'd use reflective tape .

But to light it would be a game changer .

I think I'll use reflective tape on mine.

Lighted might work for some but wonder if anyone would cut a good fleetside for them?
