Not posted in 4 years but back again!

Hello everyone I have not posted for 4 years at that time I finished a 69 GMC stepside that I loved but had to sell for medical reasons. I had a brain tumor that required brain surgery which lead to a stroke. I have fought and now back to work at full duty! The day I got to go back to work my wife was diagnosed with stage 3 Breast cancer but now we are great and cancer free and ready to build one again!! I just bought a 72 suburban first one for us! So get ready for a lot of posts cause I have lost a lot of my memory on these trucks. Hope to post some questions and get some help from a great forum!

Looks like a good truck to start with. What are you plans for it?

Re: Not posted in 4 years but back again!

Not sure what I am going to do to it yet thoughts are going to lower it in front around 3" and in back 5 to 6" just going to leave a lot stock and drive the devil out of it! Have changed wagon wheels to steelies with original GMC caps it is 3/4 ton with 16" wheels. I like that factory wheel look. Right now working on heater box was a air truck but had been robbed out in the past took everything! But guy down the road 15 minutes away has tons of part for 67-72 trucks so I'm good on parts! Thanks for posts hope to work on as I can Robert

It is good to hear a story with a happy ending. And as far as your Burban it looks like you did just fine. Most of them at that price "Ran when parked"! Good Luck on the parts hunting. I'm kinda digging that 8 track set up. Reminds me of a friends pickup in high school.

Re: Not posted in 4 years but back again!

Thanks for the replys about the price I guess I did alright. Worked today on heater box, new heater core and new blower fan this was a air truck but I just put a non air setup back in as this is going to be a driver maybe a few cruise ins around town. Memory is not good after my stroke but I did manage to get it in after about 4 times taking it in and out put core in upside down plus other stuff but its in! While I had everything out thought I would change my dash pad I had forgotten how to take it out looked at old posts and I figured it out.......how about another stroke a headache cramps in my hands and a few 4 letter words!!! But determination will set you free! New ones in!!! Thanks everyone for the kind words looking forward to posting more updates on the old burb. Robert

Re: Not posted in 4 years but back again!

Whenever I buy something I ask myself "could I sell it for that amount tomorrow if I needed to?", in order to feel good about the price I paid. I would safely say you did just fine. You would not have any trouble selling it for that price.
As to the health problems, glad to hear all is well now.

Glad to have you back and driving a classic again.
