Took my little girl for a ride...

.

Both my girls enjoy riding in the truck but since I have buckets...only one at a time. Tonight it was my youngest and she had a load of fun. First it was get out of the hood then Interstate and finally...Vietnamese, her favorite meal.

Mom made me tape up a "head rest" on the back window LOL....

Cute kid. I love Vietnamese food but it usually kicks my azz as spicy as it can be. Still worth it. I like spicy food.

Re: Took my little girl for a ride...

Very cool! My kids love riding in old cars and trucks. It's great to see you getting your kids into them too. That's the biggest reason I never put buckets in one of my trucks. One passenger at a time won't work well as we have 6 kids. I grew up 4 to 5 wide in a 69 C20 until we were too big to fit that many.

Fun, isn't it?

I started taking my son for rides in my 65 a couple months ago when he turned 5 months old. He seems to like it so far.

Re: Took my little girl for a ride...

So cool! I loved it when they were little and would say "Awww, do we have to take moms car?

Nowadays only the boy likes riding in the truck with me (mostly cuz he has his permit and likes to drive it around town being seen by his buddies )

Always got a kick though when the girls would get excited to go for a ride in the "Brick"

Awesome Dad status award to you!

I have always struggled with chopsticks. I've seen people eat rice with them. How in the hell do you do that? I can play a mean guitar but I can't master chopsticks. Guitars are easier.

This made me chuckle. I'm actually pretty good with chopsticks and I had a girlfriend from Japan that acted like she thought I was pretty good with them too. Until a family friend came to visit and as she watched me eat with my hand positioned "too far away from the eating tips toward the end of the chopsticks" she commented that you could tell how good of a family someone came from in Japan by how they held their chopsticks. So I tried to choke up on the chopsticks for a couple of bites and then decided that I was good with having a bad reputation in Japan. The family friend went back home and the girlfriend never said anything about it again, haha.

weq92f, such a cool thing to have a dinner out with your daughter like that. I'm sure she will remember it always. And the truck just makes it better.

Re: Took my little girl for a ride...

I love seeing this. I feel it's very important to foster interest in our old trucks in our children. Then you have an ally or two when the wife starts ragging on you about it! But really, I'm sure it enrichens the experience of whatever it is you are out doing with them.. Makin' memories as they say

Re: Took my little girl for a ride...

.

Both my girls call the truck The Pumpkin.

She noticed all the attention we were getting while cruising around town and mentioned it a couple times. I explained to her that these old cars/trucks are pretty rare to see driving around and so people notice them as they stand out from the rest of the cars/trucks out there.

Hopefully I can get the fam out to a big car show this year. I intend to continue to foster their interest in Classic vehicles.

Re: Took my little girl for a ride...

I have watched my son grow up in my truck. When I got it he was one. He is 24 now and I really do miss those rides we would take. Sometimes it was lunch or ice cream. Sometimes it was just a short trip around the block. He's a working man of 24 now and he lives about 3 hours away.
My daughter is an old soul. She never liked my truck. It's an '84 and it isn't old enough for her. Her apartment is decorated in circa 1970 furnishings, gold velvet couch and all.

Re: Took my little girl for a ride...

I wish my grandkids were closer

A couple summers back when they were out here I took first the boys and then the girls on a ride up and down the hill in my "old" 89 pickup. Funny, the boys were just so-so but the girls squealed and kept yelling "Again!"
