Re: One-Man Cab & Bed Lift

i just wanted to ask how much for both sets of plans (Tip & Flip truck cab dolly for the 67-72 Chevy and the one man cab and bed lift)? my 1969 Chevy c-10 with an olds 455/th400 (yes that is right olds455/th400) was flooded by hurricane Katrina and i am hoping to be going to get it soon and bring it back to CA to take it apart and redo it. i just have to figure out a way to get it here without it costing me an arm and a leg. your design will make it easy for me to work since i don't live around any gearheads like myself.

Re: One-Man Cab & Bed Lift

Just a quick bump 4 ya! I used this kit and it was awesome. It made the cab work almost easy. Not to mention how nice it was to just the roll the cab around the shop when not in use.

Great job on the design!

Hi Kevin,

has the stepside plans been tested yet? I'm probably going to order the flip cab dolly & cab lift, do you take money orders?

Thanks,
Jay

Just shy of $50 and they are both a must if you are not in gear head land anymore.

Not to my knowledge, I have sent a few sets out to guys who wanted to try it on their own but I have not received any feed back and I have not had a Step side here I could try it on.

Sorry but the 63-66's have not been worked out yet. I have been too busy with my son, shop jobs and everything else that falls my way to pull our 63 apart to build it. I still plan to get to it just have not had time yet.

Sorry but I live in California and we are not allowed to use tree's for any thing but looking at or hugging!

Re: One-Man Cab & Bed Lift

I just ordered the cab/bed lift from Lewisfabricationdesign.com. Getting my old cab off was just to scary and dangerous. I do not want to damage my new cab, anybody or anything while putting it on. I am eagarly(sp) awaiting my set of plans. I love new tools.

Re: One-Man Cab & Bed Lift

Just orderd the plans for the lift. I built the cab tip and flip dolly and it turned out great. As soon as it was done a friend of mine (rlm316) was ready and needed a dolly, he said the cab bolted right up. Im sure the plans for this will be as good . Thanks.

I have not reworked a 67-72 dolly yet but others have with great results. I do have a 65 cab just a few blocks away that I will be using here in the next month or so to build a year specific set of plans.

I am sure you will like this lifter as I use mine on a weekly basis for all kinds of projects in the shop.

I am glad you and your friends are getting good use of it. Now you did charge your friend the going 12pk rate for usage right?

This one will not be built just because they are too heavy for a single person operation like the cab lift is designed for. But with that being said I don't see why you could not build two (from one set of plans) and use two engine hoists and two friends to do the job.

Re: One-Man Cab & Bed Lift

I just ordered the cab and bed lift plans, but I'm curious as to where people get the steel to build it. Home Depot has angle iron and some other stuff, but likely not big enough square tubing.

Is there a magical Internet site that you can email a cut list and they ship you your steel at a non-abusive price?

Failing that, where do I look in the yellow pages? Should I assume any place that sells steel will cut to a cut list? I'm not even sure where to start!

Re: One-Man Cab & Bed Lift

Up here my local scrap yard also sells new steel by the foot. When I bought the steel for mine, it was around $75.00.

One good place to get good leads to where to get your metal, is your local welding supply house. I'm not sure what names are out there where your at, but airgas is a big welding supply house here. Most of their guys will know of where to go to get metal. As for getting it cut, most of the places I deal with will cut it for me, but at am extra cost.
