Had some time to grab a few shots. The galvanized box was painted gray at one time and the flaking paint makes it look like it's in worse shape than it is. It's actually really straight and solid.

Got this old travel trunk in mine, bolted through the floor. Not in the pic are a couple of old 7' leather luggage straps to keep it shut

Wow, these are awesome. I'm looking for a box to fit in my stepside. Any other ideas or pics out there?

Heres mine, 40 dollar C/L special. Low profile and jacked up so I can fit stuff under it.

Re: toolboxes or other storage containers in your trucks

Here's one i am using for now,i took it out of my driver and it is'nt has wide as the box so i bolted angle iron to the inner lip on the box so any modern box will work and the box does'nt rest on the top of the box and get moisture underneath to the paint.i am looking for a box that will sit in the box and not show from the outside but this will work for now.

Very nice. I really like the functionality of the crossover style. Anyone run a box in their stepside?

Re: toolboxes or other storage containers in your trucks

The options I've seen from the manufacturers for a stepside... the best bet would be what they call a 'chest' box. They have 'em that will fit below the bed rail.

Get yer tape measure out and go to the web sites or to your nearest dealer.

Re: toolboxes or other storage containers in your trucks

I picked up a vintage kennedy that has the the two leather bound handles you pull apart to open. i put it in the burb but there is not much in it besides a pushrod a rockerarm and a roll of bailing wire. I go to sears and buy those socket/wrench/ screwdriver set in the black folding case. I put one under the seat of each truck. its every tool you ever need for an old chev. there only $50. their organized. and it keeps me from stealing tools back and forth between trucks and the shop.

Re: toolboxes or other storage containers in your trucks

The 65 that I had prior , the previous owner took a pair of metal ammo boxes .. cut and bolted them in .. He used them to carry his snow chains ... He also took all the jack stuff out of the cab and bolted it also under the hood .. Wish I had pictures now ..

Re: toolboxes or other storage containers in your trucks

Blueheeler-- I am not sure what the previous owner did with this truck, it was a mess when I got it, had wooden toolboxes bolted to it. I am slowly converting to more of a "Western Hauler " type. The wheelbase is stock for a "Camper Chassis". it's great pulling a trailer.

Re: toolboxes or other storage containers in your trucks

I just turned the whole bed into a tool box...........got tired of the limbs, acorns, leaves, etc falling in the bed and not having anywhere to put anything out of sight, it cost about the same as some of the newer tool boxes....$299.00

Re: toolboxes or other storage containers in your trucks

This is mine. It is an ammo box from WWII. My dad had it in Iwo Jima and it's been in my attic for decades. I modified it with some brackets that hook into the little nipple things in the other picture. This allows me to quickly pull the box out if I need to haul anything big in the bed.

Re: toolboxes or other storage containers in your trucks

This box was originally used for airplane parts in the second world war. The preowner found it on the beach in norway.

Best regards from Germany
