HELP w/ 700r and 205

because of my back and leg issue I have decided to go with a 700r4 and I would like to use a np205 transfer, my question is this which 205 do I need to find to mate up to the 700r, I've looked at advanced adapters site and I get confused, so do I need one from a 350 or a 400 ? and help would be greatly appreciated. thanks

From a 350, you'll need the 27 spline input. Back of the 700 is 27 spline. You can either get the spacer for the back of the trans or change the output shaft of the trans to get the spacing correct for the adapter.

Ok so does anyone know if the adapter kit from Advanced has EVERYTHING to do this conversion ?? or do I need to get the "spacer" separately, I'm pretty sure my trans was unbolted from the transfer. thanks

Re: HELP w/ 700r and 205

I think you can go either way from AA. Is the 700 up for being taken apart and freshening up?.. going with a 700 is also moving t-case back and doing divelines unless you are going to move the engine forward

Yes I'm having the 700 rebuilt, what does that have to do with adapter kit ?

Re: HELP w/ 700r and 205

If you are having it rebuilt, then you can replace the output shaft and eliminate the spacer needed and just use the factory cast iron adapter and sleeve

correct output shaft will be a non factory unit but there are lots of them out there .

dont forget the output shaft is last out of the case and first in . so plan ahead if your going this route .

this is the way i would go . less leverage off the back of the trans with no spacer and long studs .

Re: HELP w/ 700r and 205

Ok so just to make sure I'm right, I need a transfer from behind a th350 then the best way is to change the output shaft in the transmission ? can someone tell me where to get the output shaft ?

Re: HELP w/ 700r and 205

I’ll chime in and say moving the engine forward is the way to go. I would not bother moving the t case back as this creates more work. I just installed a 4l80 which is longer. Even with the extra length I still have room with the engine moved forward. It eliminates driveline work, drilling new holes for all the crossmembers and the torque mount, getting the t case shifter centered and any issues with the shift linkage. I’m pretty sure the stock shift Linkage will line up with the 700r4 in the stock location. If you are having the trans rebuilt buy the output shaft and swap it then pretty much everything is bolt in. Look at your frame where the engine mounts and there are likely holes to move the engine crossmember forward. Those were there from the factory on most trucks. Mine has them.
