Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?

Here is mine. Pictures are a few years old, I've since added carpet and wheels but otherwise truck is mostly original. Very minimal cancer and I use it mainly as a cruiser during the summer months. You can't see in the pics but the seat has some heavy wear and tear on the drivers side.

Thank you for the welcome. Yea, I have been here a while but just like to browse. I have certainly gleaned a lot of solid information from the members here.

Hi Modela1929. If you reply under the advance settings you can attach pics with the little paper clip. Upload one at a time.

Way too pretty to put PA1 hubcaps on! Just my .02 cents.

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?

After several failed searches and looking through most of this thread I'm giving up and asking.
Does anyone know how much plaid material is needed to replace the fabric on a highlander bench seat?
I'm not an upholster so I need help.
Thank you in advance.

I had a set of buckets redone and my upholsterer said to get 1 or 1 1/12 sq. yards. I wanted the patterns symmetrical, I'm anal that way, so ordered 2 sq. yard and have a good chunk left over. I bought mine from SMS and think 2 yards would be plenty to redo a bench seat. If your getting the material from SMS they should have an idea of what you need.

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?

I understand about being particular about things. Your seats turned out beautiful as a result. Likely better than GM would have.
It looks like the bucket version uses about half as much material as the bench seat version.
Thanks for the reply.

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?

I was pointed to this thread and figured I'd add my truck although it has been stripped of it's plaid, trim, and original colors. It's still a Highlander at heart.

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?

Figured I'd add a couple more pics. Stock 350, stock AC equip, parchment door panels and visors, black dash pad, tilt wheel, black carpet, seat recovered, but still gray/off-white

I was taking the picture for another option. I had forgotten it was a Highlander. I'll get some pictures. I think it has a saddle blanket on the seat. It is pretty rusty, but unaltered.
