1967 c10 frame swap onto a 1999 Silverado frame

I'm starting a new build for a 1967 short bed stepside and I'm wanting to use a 1999 Silverado frame. I'm looking for any pictures or input from anyone that has any experiences with something like this. Specifically getting the body to set on the frame correctly.

Its been done. Silver 67 I believe. Its definetly the hard way to do things. Custom body mounts and custom cab floor.

The cab that I have is rusted out in the floor and I have replacement parts to replace it with but I also have the cab from the 99 frame. I'm considering trying to cut out that floor and fit it to the 67 cab so I wouldn't need custom mounts I would just have to change the height.

Re: 1967 c10 frame swap onto a 1999 Silverado frame

Good luck. I looked into it being I have tons of the 99-07 truck stuff laying around. That is the main thing i build is 99-07 Silverados and I buy quite a few for parts so it seemed like a good fit in my mind. After looking a while I determined that changing the front frame clip would be the far easiest and then use one of the aftermarket rear end "kits" to put the newer rear in the older frame if needed. The frame clip all measured out real well and it seemed to me a great way to add not only LS mounts but power rack and disc brake stuff for almost NO money. Keep in mind I do have literally tons of this stuff. Folks on here were less than supportive so to speak with only a few thinking it was a great idea in true hot rod spirit.
I still plan on trying it on my shop truck low dollar 68 Chevy build but I have many more that are higher on the list than than one.

That's the great thing about these trucks, they are modern. Ifs, disc brakes (if not stock really cheap conversions), one of the best rear suspensions ever put under a truck. You don't need to change anything.
If you want something radically better, your best bet is a custom chassis from the roadster shop.

This one looks great, this is exactly what I was looking for. I originally was just going for a basic build with a 67 frame and a 350 but a 99 frame was given to me with all disc brakes and a 5.3L engine was offered at a great price so I thought why not go for something special.

Can you post pictures of the late model frames with measurements?
What are the differences from 2007.5 and newer frames?
What are the differences from 4x4 to 4x2?
I saw somewhere that the front frame section can be removed from the back half. If I remember correctly, it was "sleeved" into the back half...

I like the idea of rack and pinion, disc brakes and motor mounts for LSx...

Re: 1967 c10 frame swap onto a 1999 Silverado frame

On another forum a guy grafted a mid sixties Ford "slick" pu on to a modern Ford ecoboost pu frame/firewall/floor. The thread is a couple hundred pages long and I don't think the truck is finished yet. Usually a lot of engineering has to go into a "frame swap" to make them work.

What is this newer rear end stuff you are talking about?

Re: 1967 c10 frame swap onto a 1999 Silverado frame

I say go for it.

The only thing I personally don't like about the swap (seen a few done on here now) is that the wider track width really limits your wheel choices with the big negative offset. Would be cool for a lifted 4x4 build though.
