72 Charcoal Canister hose kit

72 Charcoal Canister hose kit.

Do any of the venders sell a complete kit with all needed hoses that attach to Charcoal Canister? If not how about an PVC Valve hose, Fuel line hose and vacuum hose lits?

I know some of the Camaro, Chevelle venders carry various kits for various hoses.

Thanks,
Ray

I'm not sure about a kit. I use vacuum line when I replaced mine. Three different sizes I think.

Re: 72 Charcoal Canister hose kit

Ray the best way to get the correct parts you need are through the Chevelle and camaro venders. Camaros are the best for the engine detail parts- white stripe vac. Lines Pcv hose with correct bend nd marks. As for canister hose with correct marks search for a junked truck in yard and resurrect the originals. Soak them in a mixture of armor all and a gel type tire dressing for a couple of weeks to rehydrate them. The best way I have found is clean them gently with goop hand cleaner then place hoses in a plastic bowl with a lid and let soak in the armor all mix.

Harold,

My original hoses are cracked pretty bad in several areas.

I know venders carry the correct White stripe vaccum hose and PVC Hose that attaches to the PVC Valve.

What type of hose is used from Canister to the "Tee" that has the shorter PVC hose running to the PVC Valve?

Also, Is it regular fuel line hose from the Canister to the metal line on the frame?

Thanks,
Ray

Hi Lee,

Do you know what type of hose was used from the Canister to the metal line on the frame? Was it regular 3/8 fuel line? and all also the long one running to the PVC Valve

thanks,
Ray

Re: 72 Charcoal Canister hose kit

I just measured the OD of he nipples at the can and at the carb/vent line from tank and got the vac hose with the closest ID and used that. The one going from the fuel vent line to the can is the largest, I don't think it really matters if you use vac or fuel hose, there's no pressure on it and very little vacuum.

Re: 72 Charcoal Canister hose kit

I used fuel line on mine but I noticed there's a blue plastic plug with a small hole in it on my original line about an inch from the end. I didn't know what it was until I got an old service manual and it was calling it a "restrictor". I also noticed it was in the 72 manual and not the 71 manual. I've looked for a long time for the hose that has "EVAP" on it but have never found it other then the old line.

Re: 72 Charcoal Canister hose kit

Ray i used a fuel line on mine from canister down to the return line. As far as the line from canister to the tee, a heavy gauge 1/4" hose will work.

Re: 72 Charcoal Canister hose kit

The set up I just purchased from another member has all the original hoses attached. Unfortunately not usable.

1 The vacuum line is the original with the White Stripe (1) long piece that runs into an Tee that has 2 6-8 inch pieces of the White striped vacuum lines

2 Middle hose from Canister to PVC is marked 1/4 GM6107M-KY 2953 DX runs to a Tee that attaches to the shorter PVC valve hose.

3 Line from Canister to the metal line off the frame marked EVAP

The above link appears to have everything needed for original type restoration.
