700r4/Console/Manual Shifting

I am currently running a TH350 and looking to put a 700r4 in my 76. Transmission shop tells me that if I do this I won't have the ability to manually shift into 1st, just 2nd. Is the fix for this a cable such as the Lokar A-1800? I cannot find a search that talks about the manual shift part specifically....thank you!

Re: 700r4/Console/Manual Shifting

Well, I have a 700r4 in my truck. It has a floor shifter and it's easy to manually shift. It has a Lokar floors hitter attached to it.

Re: 700r4/Column/Manual Shifting

Thanks...I made a mistake and said console and meant column! I know a floor shift conversion would solve the problem.
What I am unsure of is if I leave it column shift, is there a way to manually shift to low gear (1st)?

Oh sorry about that. I honestly don't see why you wouldn't be able to.
