New door rubber installed now doors are SUPER tight

Just installed new weather stripping on door openings of my 66 c10. Po had taken them off prior to my purchase. Now my doors are insanely tight. Hard to open and have to slam them way too hard to close them. Is the latch plate adjustable? Should I wait and let them compress a little?

The latch plate is adjustable. I would loosen it but I think you’re right that they will compress some. I would also leave it in the sun and see what happens.

You might also check the thread in FAQ. It talks about using whether stripping from a Honda, I think.

I used the Honda seals and they have been good. Fit is nice and they seal well.

Did you change sill Plates? I did when I replaced door weather striping and that was causing my door problems. If you did change sills, remove them and see if doors shut any better.

Re: New door rubber installed now doors are SUPER tight

I did not change sill plates. The new rubber came with the truck I just got around to installing it. I'm gonna leave it sit with doors closed for awhile, I don't drive but once a week or so. Hopefully they flatten out a bit. If not I'll have to adjust. Thanks for the replies.
