84 K10 SWB prep for DD
I bought this 1984 K10 about 6 weeks ago. It's been sitting since 2011 according to the registration. I'm going to make it my daily driver. So lets get started.
     Since it's been 100 degrees out my son and I got after the undercarriage with a pressure washer.  The only rust was surface deep under the carpet.  We hit it with some 150 grit and painted enamel to protect it. Remember it's just a DD.   used some left over sound deadener from another project and reinstalled the carpet. I'll buy new carpet later.  More mechanical stuff to come. That's it for now. |

Nice truck! My 81 had more rust than that and its from California! These trucks are great daily drivers. I have been daily driving mine for about 1 1/2 years now . Looking forward to more progress.

Time for updates. Been very busy lately yada yada. Here's the pass side fuel tank. Notice some rust holes on the top.
 Lets open her up see why its so heavy even after I drained the rot gut old gas out.  Now you thought that rust was on the bottom? Not so fast diesel breath, that's the crusty top layer! I'm pulling the pick up tube out of the 3" of sand, gas, rust, tar and whatever this crap is.  Check out this tar crap!  I was lucky with the driver side tank. Just some minor rust I was able to sand with a home made tool. Cleaned it up added new rubber lines thru out, new fuel pump, new fuel filter with additional inline filter. I have some house issues and other things happening gonna have to sell the truck before I get too deep into it. I'll post in the for sale section. |
