1958 fleet side shortbox

Hello to all I am not new to the board I just spend most of my time researchin instead of writing

So after hours of searching I still have not found a definte answer

so here is my question Can I take my 58 and put it on an 81 short box frame
has any one done this

or am i stuck with the camero frame swap

I just wanted to know if there are tricks and such

also wondered about dementions

I have all the peices so I could go measure

just wondered if any one had done this before

cause im thinking about it now and this weekend I can measure for my self

You can put the 58 body onto a newer frame with some fabrication for cab, bed and front clip mounting mounts.

With a tape measure, pencil and a sketch pad, I would crawl around under both and map out the cab and box mounts. Then you can compare to see how far off they may be. If you can cut, weld, and fab, you can do it. First thing to compare is the wheel bases of both. Oh! and don't forget about the pics!

Ya I am putting a 56 on an 80 frame. Bit of fabrication but nothing too bad especially with all the help available here & elsewhere.

If I was to start over I might look at an even later frame with torsion bars. Lots of info around for that swap also. Not sure what other issues there would be.

Do searches in this and other forums (i.e. chevy talk & stonebolt). Tons of information out there.

It can be done my 58 is on an 80s model frame with whit walls and it rides great. the whells in the back just sit about 3 inches to farback in the fender well
