Well pretty much everything built around that time wasn't so great.

My 1956 Dodge Sierra. Not something I sought out but, fell into my lap and I bought it. In the middle of a 4 wheel disc brake conversion. Wife and daughter love it.

Re: Pic Thread: Station Wagons

I’ve also owned a 67 Chevelle wagon with a 6 speed manual which was incredibly fun and a 1965 Vista Cruiser. I miss the Vista Cruiser. It was a nice original car. I traded a 1987 Grand National for the Chevelle Wagon. It belonged to Scott Parkhurst. An editor for Car Craft magazine and has been plastered all over the web and in several magazines. Sold it to a guy in Boston and the Vista Cruiser went to Chicago.

That Sierra Wagon... WOW! Cool to see you are a wagon man. When I had a family at home there was always a wagon in my collection. It's only natural for a car nut with a family, right?

I'll take the Vista-Cruiser. I have a thing for gold and that has to be the nicest one I've seen.

And now because I want to change things up...

Dig it! Except for the goofy tires and wheels. Yes, that's a '62(?) and the plates were yellow/black from '57 to '62. They were black/yellow '63-'70.

Found this today walking around in the woods. Probably been there since the early 70’s when the interstate was built.

Or, since the 1973 oil embargo / gas crisis. About the same time frame. I'm not sure that will buff out....

Re: Pic Thread: Station Wagons

prob get flamed for this one....
in the mid '90's i worked 30 miles each way from home.
the powerglide '68 gas bill was killing me, so picked up this '81 Corolla wagon for 7 or 8 hundred.
hated it, never had such a small car, but i did like that it only cost me 5 bucks to drive to work, could put my tools or dawgs in the back, and i liked that it was a 5 spd

No flaming here. Those old Toyota's were workhorses and they got great mileage. I've rolled in a few over the years. They were cheap and indestructible.

Now they're big and expensive. My friend bought a Tundra. It has a V8 with Flowmasters. It's big and it rumbles. It's nice. But it just doesn't look or sound like a Toyota to me. I kind of miss the old small ones.

We bought a Subaru. They are still small and get good mileage. Tougher than stale beef jerky. It will hold all our dogs and has AWD. It's our 2nd one (First one got wrecked) It has an automatic because my wife drives it and god forbid she can't drink her Starbucks because she has to shift.

I'd go back for those Country Squire mouldings. That car would be worth so much money if it had a different fate, like stuck in a garage. Those were about the coolest wagons ever. My favorite Country Squire. One year body style, all '60 Fords really stand out, and you rarely see one. Any part that is any good at all is worth saving off that hulk. It seems Ford guys didn't like them. It takes a Chevy guy to appreciate clean no BS body styling

Figure the Falcon came out along with that. It looks like an oversize falcon in a way. It's very similar to the '60-'63 Thunderbird styling. All three went together well, that's for sure.

Did they do Falcon Country Squires?

Yeah, very different looking for being the same. I never realized Edsel made it into 1960 till I saw one at a show. A rare find for sure.

I remember when I was a kid I would look at the '60 Fords and wonder why they didn't put lights in the bumper. I'm still surprised I've never seen a custom like that. Not saying it would look better . But the embossed lines made me wonder. My favorite aunt had a '60 Starliner. I can't cheat this thread and show a picture of it. I don't have one anyway. So since Dale likes the Edsel, (heehee), I'll show this Ranger 2dr. Then it's back to wagons

Compare it to the Starliner in same colors
