70 CST CustomCamper20 Longhorn Big Block on ebay(!)

Not sure how this one slipped my tractor beam... Anyhoo, not mine. I'd look closely at the door bottoms for rust. And painting the valve covers only does not make a vehicle more desirable! Ha. Nice combo of options, kinda top of the line for a heavy hauler 2WD in 70 - I like it! Over to you all on the price, just wanted to share, don't see these everyday. States 22k original miles, but I am skeptical. Put it this way, not gonna post it in the time capsule thread just yet, there's no bed wood... At that price point I'd expect a nice new bed floor lol

That would be killer truck if redone properly. I think the price point is somewhat high as well. The truck is very nicely equipped but a LongHorn is not for everyone.

Re: 70 CST CustomCamper20 Longhorn Big Block on ebay(!)

I am (was) pretty interested in it - asked for a SPID and he posted it on ebay. The "185034 Oil Change & Grease" pencil note on it kinda pokes a hole in the 22k original miles claim that the seller seemed to be so sure of... Bummer. I do like it, but I seriously question the mileage claim, making the price way too high for me not knowing what else is untrue. I think it IS very original, and I like that - but now assuming 222k. I would have much less of a problem with 222k if it wasn't claimed to be only 22k original with such certainty..

EDIT: Ok, perhaps I jumped to a conclusion here - there is a "." between the last two numbers of the pencil notation for grease and oil, which would put the last oil change a 18K, not 180K... Hmmm. What do you all think? Rockers replaced. Some original paint. I see bronze overspray on the interior panels.. Interior COULD be a 22k mi truck, but seems odd the bed wood is completely thrown away, even if it was rotten, it might have protected the rear drivetrain a bit better. Maybe not. I'd be rusted too if I sat outside for 46 yrs. Kinda torn. It's a loaded longhorn CustomCamper CST. Starting bid isn't unreasonable, even without bed wood. But much higher seems to be. I agree this would be nice restored. And I like the not-so-common color combo. Hmmm.

Did you notice the doors have different shade of red/maroon then the fleetsides. Its a shame it was stored inside.

Yep, I am assuming the whole doors have been painted. With the vinyl panels still on it. Who knows though. It's not unbelievable to have touch up or door repaints on a truck like ours, but trying to balance in my pea brain how it needed that much repair with 22k even if stored inside. Perhaps it was only driven when it snowed and the roads were salted. The cancer spots on the tailgate are a flag for me too - could be an indication of what was repaired and what remains elsewhere. But I've searched high and low (this site too) and there are very few dark bronze trucks floating around. Fewer still are cc20 CST longhorns! And if I'm worried about Iowa snow based on where the seller is, I noticed it has Wisconsin tags on it.

Ok I am far from a expert but I see no way it only has 22k on it. and the rot on that door looks bad and the color difference on the doors compared to the front and the bed. Missing the lower front trim where the battery rot usually is

Spid says 396 owner says 402 I know they were virtually the same engine was 70 the transition year? Its got 400 badges

I think this one is too borderline to buy unseen

Don't think this has 22,000 original miles. Too many things wrong for such low milage. Way take the wood out? Wrong clamps on heater hoses, plus replaced hoses. More than likely 122000 miles or more. If anyone is looking for one of these Longhorns I have '71 up for sale. Not running but pretty solid truck, big block, tack, tilt. Very minimal rust. Let me know.

If that one is a clean as it appears to be, I could see myself buying that one if I was in the market right now. It would need a thorough going over by a trained set of eyes, but I do like the paint color and the BB.

That alone would not scare me. Would you want to drive around with 46 year old hoses?
