Yes correct. You can put oil in drier. We used to just add the 11 oz in the compressors when we rebuilt them at classic auto air

Awesome video. Can you PM me price and lead time if I have your shop restore my factory AC?

Does anyone know where I can buy the black insulation tape used to seal the upper tubing that goes into the box. One guy referred to it as cork tape?

That is cork tape. You can find it on eBay as well as various vendors like old air products, classic auto air, or at hvac supply houses. If you purchase it from the classic automotive vendors then you will pay a premium for a small roll. If you purchase it from the hvac place you will have more than you will need in your lifetime.

I bought mine from Napa. Its pretty cheap, but as you state, I have more than I can use in a lifetime now.

Re: For those guys restoring their factory ac and heater boxes

Thanks guys, I found something called "Tacky Tape" on eBay for $7.25 for 18" long x 2" wide. It looks exactly like the stuff I currently have on the tubing. Should be more than enough.

Thanks. Unfortunately its not available anywhere. When one is bad, I replace with it with a good one from my cores. If you find yourself needing one, your only option is to find a housing with a good one

Re: For those guys restoring their factory ac and heater boxes

Thats highly unfortunate. Think it's possible to make one from gasket material?

I'm not sure. I've never considered it seeing as how I can just replace the door

Wow. Makes me feel a lot better about the handful or two of leaf clutter that came out of mine. I added a cowl screen too.... should be good for another 46 years!
