Cherry on top

I wanted to make my Texas truck period correct, so I added this bumper sticker;

https://www.amazon.com/photos/share/...HC38Amm3SvkcDf

I know most of y'all don't know what it means. There was a sheriff in LaGrange Texas that punched a news caster in the nose and got sued. The towns people and the girls at the Chicken Ranch rallied to help pay his legal bills. They did bake sales and sold things like these bumper stickers to support their sheriff and there not so well kept secrete Best Little ????? in Texas. So these bumper stickers were real common at that time and place. I got the color, font and back ground as close as I could to the originals.

Re: Cherry on top

Nice, I see some trucks and cars with period correct political stickers on them and it looks cool. I found nothing substantial for 1970 to put on mine so I have nothing yet.

Re: Cherry on top

That's great. I looked for a period correct bumper sticker for mine but couldn't find anything except presidential stickers, and I don't really want anything that screams bigtime politics.

I like that one!!!!

There was not much going on in 1970 for me, other than the Vietnam War, so I guess I need to look into those stickers and find one I like. Similar to the Wagoneer above.

Re: Cherry on top

The bumper sticker is really funny around this part of Texas. It's really the old timers that get the joke, but boy is it funny when they do.

I used to have Bud and Sissy stickers in the window of my other truck. People would actually stop and take photos of that.
First one to guess what that joke is from wins.

Re: Cherry on top

So you mentioned you tried to get the coloring and font correct. Did you have this sticker made somewhere? Or did you print it up yourself?

Im curious about the process of having bumper stickers made.

Re: Cherry on top

I had this made based on the "ghost images" I could read in the discolored chrome; it's the selling dealership and location.

I chose the colors arbitrarily based on what I imagined it looked like.

"Signs by Tomorrow" did this for me. I use them for all my race car vinyl lettering.

I used
http://www.vistaprint.com/bumper-sti...77504163&GNF=0

There are lots of templates you can start with or start from scratch.

I also tried making it from a magnet on buildasign.com, but I liked the way the sticker looked best.

Re: Cherry on top

my cab came from Arlinton, Tx and has a sticker in the rear window for a AM radion station. I found a copy of their play list from 1971.

Re: Cherry on top

That's a cool piece of history. I've thought about getting a bumper sticker saying, no airbags we die like real men. Not really a period correct one but kinda funny being a older vehicle.
