1968 lower trim fit issue

Hello, i have a 68 gmc short fleet that im working on. i purchased a repo bed from a member and the whole set of side trim. most of it looks like it will fit great. the rear wheel well arches are the exception. it looks like the top of the trim will end up about a 1/4 inch below the body line in the rear. i wondering if anyone knows if its the bed or the trim?
thanks Bryan

Re: 1968 lower trim fit issue

My reputable aftermarket trim did something like what you are taking about on my original bed with aftermarket wheel-well patches. I actually found that if I started with the wheel well trim and balanced the distances below the body line by rotating the trim until it was the same distance below the body line front and back that it looked very good. Them I positioned the straight pieces to have the same gap along the rest of the length. I do not think that the trim is supposed to be right on the body line. I could be wrong, but that's what I had to do to keep one side (front or back) from being grossly different from the other. I was also putting in all new holes and not trying to reuse any of the old ones.

That is correct. The trim sat down from the body line about a 1/4” of in inch. I bought an aftermarket bedside for my old ‘68, and when fitting it, I noticed that. I was immediately PO’d, but after going over and looking at the original bedside, it was the same way.
