guage clusters

I dont know if you guys already know this or not but GM has extended the Warranty on the guage clusters for all GM trucks including Caddys for the years 2003 and 04 up to 70,000. I work for an extended warranty company and we see these as a VERY common problem in the trucks. Just to give you guys a heads up

Re: guage clusters

Thanks for that info. It is a VERY common problem. Too bad my 05 has over 80k on it. The cluster is dying on it.

I've heard of the fuel gauges going bad??? Mine has 109K on it and still good. It seems like GM had problems with the newer ones??? They must have switched to a cheaper supplier?

Re: guage clusters

the speedos always get stuck at times and the fuel level guages go bad, (although if the fuel guage is bad in yours I would test the sending unit also). the oil pressure guage will go bad also. When you take it in for these problems, Make sure they do a sweep test. A way to test it yourself before you take it in is to disconnect the battery for at least 15 minutes to reprogram the cluster computer also.

The stepper motors fail on some of the gauges.

Re: guage clusters

The speedo just quit on my 05 gmc Crew. It curently has just over 50k. Luckily I have the extended waranty so all I have to pay is 100 of the 414 in parts and labor.

Re: guage clusters

I know of a few Silverado's with dead speedometers right around 75k. Figures. Mine just started jumping a little around 55-65mph and it has about 75k on it too.

Re: guage clusters

if your local dealer has it documented that youve had problems between 36K and 70K, they can "goodwill" warranty it up to like 20,000 miles or 2 years out of warranty. the dealer just has to call they're cluster supplier to OK it
