4" Exhaust Question

Anybody running 4" over the axle?
Ran into a couple snags myself, 4" pipe won't clear the shock on the r/s and I was wonder what others have done for their exhaust.

Might have to exit in front the rear tires.

Re: 4" Exhaust Question

How bad is it hitting your shock? On the burb I did it was so high that it didn't hit the shock. On my brother's 88 V30 it had 4" on it and I think the tail pipe rubbed the shock, but he never had a problem with it.

With a rear tank mounts and the shock it's become a issue, I might exit out the side in front of the wheels for now.
The see what I can find for a GMT400 body style exhaust like you suggested.

Funny thing, I had a 1996 K3500 6.5L dually a while back and I used a 97 powerstroke exhaust on that, I think it was 3.5" inch.

Re: 4" Exhaust Question

Guys - I don't mean to hijack your thread; but, does anyone know of a source for a 4" universal exhaust kit? I'm putting a 4-53T Detroit in my '72 GMC. No one makes a kit for this application...

Thanks,
Burnett

So, I used eBay, with a search string like "Assorted exhaust mandrel bend" and ended up getting a box of 10 or so pieces of 3" that I could build my down-tube and intercooler piping from. I think it ran about $30 +shipping.
