This is my truck a 70 custom camper all original I was thinking of lowering it but can't afford airbagging it so it would be a static drop no flip kits cause I'd actually like to use it as a truck. I had the engine out and the front was just about level with the back that looked good too. My question is what does everyone think, raise the front up or drop the whole thing down?

For me & for what it is "Custom Camper & all original" I would say leave it where it is.

As you know it really only matters to you and what "YOU" like.

I hate how much of a rake it has. It's 4 inches higher in the back. It is completely stock except for the CD player the 80 year old man I bought it from installed cause he thought it would sell better. I do want to get the wider steel wheels and eventually pay the 2-300 bucks for the hubcaps

I'd keep the rake, it's 10x better than these guys with lifted up trucks pulling trailers with nothing but lawn mowers across town with the azz end sagging... My dad had a 2wd 3/4ton and it was factory stance til he sold it...and I loved it.

Drop it down in the rear to make it sit level is my 2nd option but to me that's a far away 2nd option. It takes away from it being a truck. And lifting a 2wd in the front has always been too "poser" for me.

I also like it the way it is. a true example of a working mans truck. But if you did decide to drop it with springs, keep the old ones so it can be reversed...

I like level trucks ,, on my 67 I lowered the rear 2 inches with blocks [coil rear] its dead level now ,, im runnin 10 1/2 x31x15s on it with stock rallys , I would post a picture but its in paint jail so that wont work

You mention a flip kit, so I assume it's a leaf truck. On my 70 C2500 Sierra Grande I debatted the same thing. I wound up putting Early Classic Drop shackles on the back and did a 71-72 disc conversion. I ran 265 75 16's which filled the wheel well nicely and it had just the slightest lean forward. Looked great IMO and I lost not load carrying capacity.

Drops aren't permanent! It's nothing another owner couldn't convert back to original height if they so choose. In the end, decide what suits you best!

I'm just torn. My 72 had leafs it was lowered when I got it and it looked amazing it was a short bed and not a camper tho. But at the same time I love the fact that I have an original "work truck". I'd really like to see a picture of someone's stock looking 3/4 ton with original steel wheels dropped a few inches

My vote is for a 2" front and 4" rear drop.

I say leave it alone. The first thing I hear from everyone that gets a truck is, I'm going to lower it. Leave it as it, they are great trucks left just like they were made. I say Spend your money on some Hub caps instead. Just my 2 cents worth.

I recently acquired a71 c10 and as soon as i get it road worthy, i plan on lifting the front maybe 3 inches to get it leveled and give it a meaner look. here in southern california you see alot of lifted 2wd with that baja 1000 preerunner look.

I use mine as bought.It's a truck. I had a lowered truck and it was a pain changing oil,tires,etc. I use mine as a truck so it's standing up. My $.02 worth.

That's why I bought a c20 I use it. I just hate how big the rake is. That's why I'm thinking about lifting the front up not the prerunner style just level. I've just never seen one I tried to google it and all I could find was truck with a lift kit on it. That's why I was asking about lowering kits

Maybe pull out a few of the leaf springs to get your desired stance and add helper air bags to regain the load capacity. Rides smoother when empty, sits level, and can still add air for when you carry a heavy load. Mine sits high in the rear also. '72 C20 Custom Camper.~~~~~

mmorgan32 I don't know how easy it is there, but if you can get some free sand bags. Throw a few in till it levels out. drive it awhile see if you like it. I do this with firewood also looks good for awhile (redneck lowering kit), but I can always take the load off.Ha!
