Re: 69 shortbed build

heres my project. its going pretty slow trying to find time to finish the bodywork. i have alot more work done just need to take more pics of it. im picking up a 72 c10 short step today. 355/350/14 bolt(454ss rear)3.73s. it has a 67 front clip. it could be a driver but im going to fix all the body work on it first. its going to be the ratrod and im keeping it low budget and real simple. flat black and slammed. the 69 in these pics is getting it all tho. im painting it gloss black. as you can see the cab needed alot of work. i havnt seen many cabs this bad. i had to make all new kick panel from the windshield to the floor. i deleted the vents aswell because this truck is getting AC

Re: 69 shortbed build

it runs good but loading up at idle and i think the timing is alittle too far advanced because it doesnt like to turn over very fast. its very peppy tho, it was a handfull trying to get it on the trailer in the rain.

im not shure if anyone knows this truck, its been all around. guy i bought it from hauled it here from missouri to queen ann, MD. has alot of nice stuff on it. the body isnt too great

Re: 69 shortbed build

got the starting issue solved, timing was advanced way too far. 18* at idle. backed it off to 12* and it starts fine. so we may have to change some springs and weights . its still loading up tho, tried backing off the adjustment screws and it didnt do anything so the carb is coming off for cleaning. i do know it has too much cam and not enough stall/gear.. it barely has any vaccum for the brakes and pushes through the stall in gear at idle. im going to put a vaccum guage on it after i clean the carb. more pics coming. i forgot the camera today.

Re: 69 shortbed build

ok, im taking a new direction with the firewall. instead of smoothing it(now that its almost done) im going to shave the whole thing.

i just wasnt happy with the step thats in it
