Question Pertronix Conversion

Planning on installing a Pertronix distributor module and coil in the coming months. They have models I, II, and III. Wondering if anyone has experience with these and if there is a big difference between the different "levels". My plan would be to buy the latest one unless there isn't a good reason to do so.
2015 Tacoma. Yeah, not a GM, but I love it.
1969 GMC 32,000 - fix, drive, relax, fix...
1979 Honda GL 1000 - retro touring at its best.

'05 Sierra 4x4 - Had 270,000 KM and running well when it was written-off by a stop sign runner.
'94 F-150 from the "F word" company. I'll admit it...good truck. Sold what was left of it for $800 to a guy who came to pick it up at 11:00 PM with cash in hand. Hmm.
'79 Sierra Grande (Black) organ donor - perfect rebuildable 4-bolt 350 and a good TH350.
'76 Sierra Grande (Orange) - hate isn't too strong a word. Kid who bought it turned it into a hot rod.
'68 C-10 R.I.P. - Dad's old truck...too far gone to resurrect.
'59 C-50 - with hoist. Truck is gone, wife isn't. Nuff said.

I ran the I & the II....after the last deal....(timing was all over the place)....well, you can say that I did not try the next one! IMHO, drop a GM hei in & forget about the points Longhorn

I had a bad experience with the Pertronix company so I would also recommend a good ol' GM HEI. If space is a concern, There are inexpensive small cap electronic distributors available.

I know it's a bit pricey but by time it's all said and done it's money well spent on a unit that requires no ignition boxes and has an easy built in programmable rev limiter. It is a fully adjustable plug and play unit that will work just fine with your existing coil.

I've used the Pertronix base unit in several truck I've had and never had an issue.
Pretty easy installation and i get to use my original distributor which means no 'clearance issues' with the firewall.
I've used them successfully on both the V-8's and the 6 cylinders.
A pertronix coil is can use the original coil if you want.

I've had a conversion one in my boat since around 2004. Haven't had any problems with it. Everything else I have but not the distributor.

Every vehicle I tried pertronix in, I either replaced the unit with an HEI or went back to points.

Also had problems with a coil of theirs as well.

Ignitor I can burn out if you leave the key in the on position. Ignitor II is an improved version that solves that problem. Ignitor III have a rev limitor built into it. I've used the Ignitor II to replace the points on a Bosch distributor and used it in conjunction with a MSD 6AL and blaster coil. Haven't had any issues out of it yet, granted I haven't put a lot of miles on it.

Go with the III if u do it. I have the III in my GTO. Works fine. Just follow directions. It's an easy install. You must not use a "resistor " wire. Run a dedicated new wire. Mine blew the fuz=e the first time I hit the rev limiter, but changed fuz=e and haven't had any problems since. Iwould recommend it.
