Spirit of 76 SPID stumper

Ok, so, have seen several Spirit of 76 trucks. Pic 1 is what one looks like for ref. Pic 2 is its SPID. All other Spirit trucks had similar SPIDs - i.e. Scottsdales, same seat code, same yada yada yada.

So, I always thought the "Freedom Machine" was an advertising name for the Spirit of 76 trucks... Anyone know if that is actually true?

Here's why I'm askin: Pic 3 is a 76 K20 that actually calls out "Delete Freedom Features"... I've never seen an RPO for deleting something that was an actual option (i.e. you could buy a Spirit of 76 truck as an option, but all 76's weren't Spirit of 76s...)

Anyone ever seen a Spirit of 76 "delete"

Is Freedom Machine different from Spirit of 76?

I love a good mystery

Here's the only other one I could find: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=395246

Re: Spirit of 76 SPID stumper

The SPID for my '76 also lists ZV7 Delete Freedom Feature. I did a quick search for GM RPO ZV7 and it showed up in a couple of places as Freedom Battery Delete. It looks like Delco used the Freedom name for its sealed/maintenance-free battery in 1976. The K20 SPID you posted and the one for my '76 both list UA1 as a heavy duty battery. I'm guessing that if UA1 was chosen for the heavy duty battery then ZV7 went along with it to delete the standard battery. If you can find a '76 SPID with only one or the other, you would debunk this theory. Again, this is all just my best guess.

Someone had posted about the Freedom Machine and it got revived a few weeks ago. Might have triggered this post, or might not have... just linking it here in case it might give you some assistance.

Re: Spirit of 76 SPID stumper

I think it is for the exterior stripe delete(unless this truck has it) We have a 74 Z28 my dad bought new. The spid on this shows the delete as it had a HUGE z28 logo on the hood and my dad didn't want it on his car.
