55 2nd Series VIN trouble.

I have 1 55 2nd Series truck. the VIN number on the title seems to be an Engine serial number VIN. The door jam Chassis VIN is different. Engine number is hardly legible.
How do I resolve this issue to sell the truck?
Door jam number is M255S048026(55 3200 St. Louis truck)
Title number ends in xxx9704F255.

Re: 55 2nd Series VIN trouble.

When you scroll down a few pages you will find the GM breakdown for serial numbers on the 55 second series incuding the door post number, engine number and trans number.

That will at least let you decode the number used on the title as the vin.

Some careful cleaning might help you decipher the number on the engine too.

I don't believe that title number refers to an engine serial. OEM engine numbers end with two or three letters. The title may be for an assigned VIN.
