undercoating
Whats the best way to remove the undercoating on my fire wall I want to paint that area?

Heat gun and a scraper is what I've been told.

I used some odd rolac type discs. They were not the sand typeI used 2 different ones. 1) looks like it has a bunch of fingers sticking out. 2) looks like a piece of scotch bright filled with a wax type material. these worked great. good luck

I like using the 3m paint and rust removers.
http://www.autozone.com/autozone/acc...er=193459_0_0_ http://www.autozone.com/autozone/acc...er=193460_0_0_ The first one would work best for removing the undercoating. You can get them alot cheaper at walmart, usually. I've found they work best in a air powered tool rather than electric.

Heat and a scraper will be the cleanest. Comes off in chunks, often leaving perfectly clean metal. Key is to SOFTEN the stuff, don't melt it.
