Transmission

I have a 1998 c1500 with a 305 what years had the same transmission? I have the 4L60e can I go to the 4l80e?

The 4L60 and it's family of transmissions are the same dimensionally and mounting. They include the 4L65, 4L70 and the 4L75. If you want better torque ability, the 4L75 is capable in stock form of 650 lb-ft. The same as the 4L80. The 4L70 which has been around for a while, is capable of 495 lb-ft of torque.

The 4L80 is dimensionally and mounting wise different than the 4L60 family of trans.
