Re: oil pressure wiring 5.3 truck engine
No at first I thought the same thing as you..... My after market BP harness did not come with a wire that went to the oil pressure sending unit. and I was confused. thought something was wrong?
Someone on the forums here explained to me that The ECM only needs factory temp sensor. ECM does not take oil pressure readings. Put your aftermarket oil pres sender in the center of top rear of block- up against the firewall in the OEM port. Be careful that port is a metric thread so your new sending unit must have a metric conversion on it. I believe it is M-12 or M-14 Unscrew the stock sender- GM uses a special socket that can be purchased on amazon to remove this. LS 5.3 ECM does not read Oil Pressure just temp for cooling fans. You will need to screw an additional temp sending unit in passenger rear head for your aftermarket temp gauge.

Re: oil pressure wiring 5.3 truck engine
I have all the mechanical gauges hooked up and also use the scan gauge 2 hooked up to the ECM for all the LS stuff.
The oil gauge is the mechanical one.

Re: oil pressure wiring 5.3 truck engine
The "LS" truck engine oil pressure signal is 5 volt signal back to the PCM and can be seen on a scan tool, but not need. Use the metric to 1/8" NPF adaptor as posted above, sold everywhere.
If room is limited, the other popular method to get a old school sender into your "LS", is the oil cooler block-off plate, located over the oil filter. When removed, it can be drilled and run a 1/8" Nation Pipe Thread tap into it to install your sender. Route your new wire, being careful to hold it with wire loom clamps to keep away from the header heat. I wrapped mine in HVAC foil sold at home improvement stores. Same with O2 sensor harnesses. Also used with ground shielding on PMG signal sensor circuits like speed sensor. Others, have used the OEM oil senders metal base, broke off sender, drill and tap. Note; Sender requires the block for ground using one wire for gauge. Do not use pipe thread sealant or pipe tape. Only GM thread sealer P/N 12346004 will allow sealing and grounding. I have two tubes in the tool box. Otherwise, naked as pipe thread is tapered and will tighten to seal.
