Ok, so air tanks. I've got a single 5 gallon and it seems like it's too small. One lift up on just the front and the compressors kick on. I'm thinking about ordering two more 5 gallon ones and stuffing them into the frame. Does this sound like enough? What's common for these trucks?

I'm running 14 gallons total, enough to fill RE8 bags all the way around twice before the EDC kicks on

Cool. Thanks. I just ordered a couple more 5 gallon ones. They have a bunch of 1/4 ports on the side, so I should just be able to plug those and run a T to the 3/8 end port on each. I've got miles of room between the frame and the rockers, so I can stuff one on each side and never see them.

Everything is tacked up and in place.

Pan hard bar tacked in place. I've probably cycled this thing on the Jack 50 times today. There's not a lot of options for where to mount it with the big ass pumpkin... This appears to be the best of any.

So, after staring at it and cycling up and down over and over, I've come to the conclusion that there is simply no room to run this as a bag over axle. I've changed direction and I'm going to mount the bags on the upper link bars. Since this is a really robust kit, I'm not concerned about the strength of the bars/mounts. Plenty of guys are doing a bag on bar setup on just the lower(longer) bar on a triangulated system. Just for the sake of argument and to make it even tougher, I ordered up some 1/4" gussets to run the length of the upper bar.

I'll have to fab up some upper mounts that sit around 10" above the frame, so once these parts show up, I'll start building that.

In the meantime, I'll be working on a new crossmember to replace the stock one that I hacked in half yesterday to make room for the driveshaft. So here's a question...would you guys run the exhaust all the way back to the axle or dump it ahead of it? I'm torn which way to go and the crossmember needs me to make a decision before I build it.

Exhaust termination is subjective.

Some don't mind the noise of a dumped set-up; some do. Some want to keep under-bed cleaner w/a full length set-up; for others it doesn't matter.

I wanted mine quiet & clean so the full length set-up was mandatory.

I will. I'm just doing everything else I can before I cut it apart and rebuild it taller. Nobody likes redoing their own hard work. Plus, I want to make everything nice and stiff on the frame ahead of the notch so it doesn't move.

Today I built the crossmember...seriously. All frickin day on this stupid thing. Everything was going the wrong direction for me and I should have quit before I started. Burnt myself several times, welder was acting up, plasma torch wouldn't cut clean, didn't have all the material I wanted to use, stepped in some dog ****...oh well, I pushed through and made it work.

That's a pretty expensive price for just front adapters. http://www.tnwheelandtire.com/site/7...8X10CHEV73-200 builds them for little over $900 for fronts and back.

Thanks. I checked them out and ya 550 for just the 2 front adapters is quite expensive. That Tennessee wheel sells all 4 for 900 shipped. Probably where I'll order them from. I've had my wheels cut and polished in my garage for almost a year now

KT does have the full set for a better price. Currently $850 with the 40 lugs for the wheels..

I'm heading to buy materials this morning. Going a different route on the notch and rear frame. I read through the thread over on the C10 forum with the guy from Canada that was building "Dool Eh". He used 4x3 1/4" and it looks way cleaner than the traditional step frame that I did. I'll keep mine a little more tame, but I plan to lop the frame off right in front of the existing notch and rebuild from scratch. Then I can tie in the same material when I do the SFBD and Z the front.

So...this step notch will be available in one big piece if anyone wants to come get it!! Lol

"Dool Eh" was one of the cleanest frame builds I've ever seen. I based my frame off of his because I liked the way he tied the front together. He put his cab on, went to a couple shows, haven't seen it since.
