gmc 2.5 ton 1 ton build
Hello I'm new to the forum and have also just purchased a 59 gmc 350 2.5 ton. I have a question about the hood and fenders on the 2.5 ton. I'm thinking of swapping the fenders out to 1 ton fenders to narrow the front out abit.however I'm not sure 1 ton fenders will fit. I pretty sure the 2.5 ton has extra length in the fenders and hood. I also want to modify my hood for a 1/2 ton hood ornament and all the chrome off a 1/2 ton. What do you guys think? Here is a pic of my truck.
Is the a good source 1 ton or 2.5 ton fenders? All the sources I've found were on my for 1/2 ton.. Thanks guys |

I don't believe that the fender will swap out using the 2.5T axle. The wheels will stick way out and have a smaller opening. www.stovebolt.com is a better resource for larger GM truck. They may be able to answer the questions, www.oldgmctrucks.com/ is for GMC try there as well

Re: gmc 2.5 ton 1 ton build
gmc is different than chevy and i know mostly chevy
chevy trucks used the same cab, hood, grill and doors on their (1/2 ton) and on up to the big rig trucks light duty: apache 30 series; 31 1/2T to 38 1T and used the same fenders Medium-duty: Viking 40 and 60 trucks are 1.5T and 2T Heavy-duty: Spartan 80 and 100 trucks are 2.5T and up apache, viking and spartan are 58-62 designations, google chevrolet viking truck and you also get the new style the viking and spatan trucks have wider fenders with big wheel opening for the 22'' rims with a chevy you can swap the fenders from any truck but as dwcsr said the wheels will hit not sure if any of this infor translates to gmc as they had their little differences spartan 80 tow truck spartan 100 dump truck viking 60 flatbed truck lcf trucks (low cab forward) viking 50 and spartan 70 and 90 are different beasts altogether

Re: gmc 2.5 ton 1 ton build
None of the big truck front clip stuff is reproduced. Take a look at the link in my signature and find your year. There is chassis information in the specs. I looked at the FAM and it looks like the relationship of wheelwell to front axle is different between 1 ton and lower and big trucks.
