Request for help on L6 offset air cleaner riser pipe dimensions.

I am trying to get exact dimensions of the riser for carburetor to the air cleaner.
Could someone contact me or post dimensions so I can manufacture one for my truck?

The piece with the hose attached in this picture.

Thank you,

Bill

Re: Request for help on L6 offset air cleaner riser pipe dimensions.

Has anyone compared that part to the standard one that was used in 68 on an L6 ?

Everytime a see a picture of the offset one I think it looks just like the regular one.

No luck yet, many possibilities of who may have one, but nothing definite yet.

That might kill me if there are different sizes.
I hope there is only one size.
Any straight six expert's know about this?

Re: Request for help on L6 offset air cleaner riser pipe dimensions.

Total height/length is 3 13/16
inside diameter is 2 1/2
outside diameter including the lips is 3"
the first picture is 3 1/2 between both lips
the end without the rolled edge protrudes past the lip 1/4"

My 67 doesn't have the breather tube, so I can't help you with that location or dimension.

Question L6 offset air cleaner riser pipe dimensions.

Bill ;

I don't understand what you need here ? .

Your photo appears to be the complete setup including the unobatanium threaded rod......

Name: 250.PS.Bracket.jpg
Views: 421
Size: 51.4 KB

This is the one on my '69 C/10, I had to assemble it out of married parts .

Dry element .

I may have finally found the vastly better oil bath one, if so I'll clean and re paint it, slap it on and never worry about Mojave Desert dust grinding my engine to junk again .

FelPro gaskets sells the important paper seals at each end of the tube .

I'm a die hard i6 fanboi if no 'expert' .

You are amazing! Thank you for the pictures and dimensions!
I will machine one out of aluminum just to complete the air cleaner I have.

Thanks Again,

Bill

Those pictures were found on this site, not from my parts.

I have everything but the riser and intake horn.
The horn is not a major concern, but I cannot use it without the riser!

If you want to sell your dry filter let me know.

Re: Request for help on L6 offset air cleaner riser pipe dimensions.

Hello Bill. Well I do have two riser, though they look alike they are not the same height , not really sure of the years, it's been awhile but they both look like the one you got pictured. The one I'm using for my off set, (I believe 71) , I got the complete set for $ 35.00 no kidding, that riser measured from end to end 3" 9/16. The other riser which was used for the regular air cleaner before going power disc brakes measured 3" 3/4. With 3/16 of a inch difference just maybe use a 3/16 spacer under the air filter ( I have a rubber washer there now so there no metal on metal), all other measurements are the same.

Thank you for the information. I need to setup the air cleaner then measure the space to guestimate the riser height.

Thumbs up Re: Request for help on L6 offset air cleaner riser pipe dimensions.

Here is what I have. I have no idea what it came off of though. It was in a box of parts. I also have the small hand guard off my father in laws old truck.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Re: Request for help on L6 offset air cleaner riser pipe dimensions.

I now have the piece I need. I have detailed dimensions for it, and will order the material I need to make one or two or three...

Unfortunately, I can no longer load images to photobucket! They seem to have screwed the pooch and are nothing but massive advertising popups and slide ins and drop downs!

I added an attachment through 67-72 hopefully it can be viewed well enough.

?? is this a thing anyone else cares about ?/ .

True, most L6's were dumped in favor of 350's or BB's! I see a few around, but not that many.

A local guy has one that is beautiful with the above mentioned L6, but not a mechanical guy so when I ask questions about stuff I get no answer.

Rest assured I will always share my extensive i6 info with anyone who asks ....

I grew up with all i6 powered farm trucks .

I still love 'em because they're far more reliable, cheaper to operate and longer lasting than any V configuration engines ever made .

Everyone who sees my engine compartment states something like "That's easy to work on!".
With long enough arms, there is nothing you can not reach in the compartment!

Post Engine Access

Just so Bill ;

When I were a lad in the mid 1960's, I had me a Brand 'F' F100 stepper, 240CID i6 three on the tree etc.

I'd sit _inside_ the engine compartment(I was 6'1" then) on the fender with my legs on the frame rails....
