Speedo Cable Help!!

Hey Guys so i pulled my gauge cluster out and added a tach to my non factory tach gauge cluster, and right now my only hang up is i cant for the life of me get the speedo cable to seat back into the back of the speedo gauge, it will go in but not far enough for me to screw it back on, ive tried turning the wheels in drive to see if i can get it to seat.. Frustrated!!

Pull the cable off at the trans end so you can easily spin the cable.
Should slide in then.

I had the same problem yesterday when I pulled my cluster. I got it close, and the cable itself would turn the speedo, even though it wasn't screwed in. I drove it up my street and back, and then I got back, it screwed right in. Not sure why, or what changed, but it worked.

I believe most speedo cables are " Two piece design" meaning an upper half and lower half. If the cable pulled out,and wasn't indexed to the other end, that my explain why it wouldn't go back together

Thanks for all the advice, I ended up pulling the cable off at the tranny and was able to get it to seat in the speedo..
