upper trim clip pictures?

I have searched all over Portland for aftermarket clips that will work to install the upper trim on my burb...no luck. Can someone please post a picture or part nomber for the clips that have been referenced from LMC...From what I've read you can buy clips for the pickup molding and modify them a bit...but not sure which ones work. I called LMC and the are not sure either. If I could see one then I could make the order. Thanks

I'm afraid your request is gonna take some time to simmer...
Burb related trim clips are and often red headed stepchild with vendors, mainly because there is little to no demand for them to be properly reproduced.

I am going through the same thing with simple 67/68 lower trim clips.
Sure vendors say they have them, and people will chime in saying that their local NAPA has a bazillion of them. But, when the rubber meets the road they are not good enough to do the job they say they are up to do.

I am on the constant hunt for NOS clips, because every new clip I have used just plain sucks.

Ok, I gotcha. Man, I wish I didnt have to learn everything the hard way. The guy that I bought the trim from offered to let me come get all the clips off his parts burb and I said no becuase I had heard that it was easy to find new ones...I was dead wrong. Then when I called him back he had already ditched the burb along with all my clips. Dang.

Fortunately, I don't have this molding on my '67. But it seems to me these could be made pretty cheaply and simply...even if it was a member that reproduced a limited run, or "as ordered". I looked over the ones in LMC (Love those drawings!), and they don't seem all that hard to make.
I'm no master fabricator, but I've got a few skills. It seams like I could make these pretty easily. Any body got one laying around that I could make patterns and get specs from?

I've seen plenty of pics of the clips for trucks in print catalogs. If the burb clips are anything like those, I think I could make them. I know there's not a big market for them (which is why companies who make the other clips don't make what you need), but I see a need for them. It may be a small need. I'm not trying to make a living from reproducing these clips. I just feel like making a bunch of these would help out the hobby I love, and help out other people who need these clips. No, I won't make them for free. But I will make them as cheap as I can.
Just remember... Every time someone breaks one of these clips, that's one less in the world. And no more being made to replace it.

and i just want a real, actual close up pic of an aftermarket clip that someone has used that fits...i know that is not a common request but if anyone has any extra I just wanted to see what they look like to compare while I am searching

I'd really like to see a pic (with dimensions) also. It would make sense for GM had to use this clip on other applications.

I haven't removed any of my molding. I haven't started any body work yet. But just looking from the backside I see some southern ingenuity with drywall anchors and screws.

I just glanced through the LMC catalog and noticed the tailgate trim for pick-ups. The trim is narrow like the upper mouldings for the burbs. LMC also carries the clips for said tailgate trim. I'm wondering if those clips would work, or even are the same clips as Bigdav160 mentions they could possibly be. Would make sense. GM has been known to share many parts between vehicles and even between brands.
The clip sets are only $15/$20 bucks. Might be a question answered cheaply. I don't even have these mouldings on my burb, or I might be willing to give them a try. Anyone want to blow a few bucks to find out if they'll work?

I just looked at my parts truck and the upper moulding clips are slightly different, but they are close to the correct size and design.
maybe they could be modified to work if you don't find any.

Thanks for the pics. My camera won't focus that tight either. Even in macro mode.

Do these just snap in the hole? No threaded fastener?

The first clip at the front of the trim pieces on the doors will have a stud with a barrel nut or a pal nut. The rest of them will only have the spring clip type.

Just a thought if you only find the stud type, the majority of the holes are accessible from the inside. A few are hard to access at the very front but with diligence they could be put on with the stud type.

So I had to stop in to my local paint store that also happens to carry some automotive stuff (mostly paint stuff). I happened on a display on the back wall that had a pretty good selection of trim clips for almost every vehicle. Some of them were much like the ones this thread is all about.

The company that sells these is called Au-ve-co. They only sell business to business, but they have a pdf catalog online. I'm sure they also have a list of businesses that sell their products. And their website also has a list of OEM part numbers and cross references.
