Truck worth it?

What do yall think this truck is worth, it may end up being my first classic truck buy friday. Then i can be a contributing member to this site . Frame is from a 1967-1972 truck new floorpan and firewall. body looks good.
nothing included but body, 12 bolt rear end, and glass.

The only issue that I can see is that with the 67-72 frame, your track width will be very wide and will be a problem if you ever decide to lower it. If you are going to raise it or leave it where it is, it should be OK.

not arguing but wouldnt i be able to find a wheel with enough offset that it would clear? Or are you talking about something else? Its hard to find any trucks on here that have done the c10 frame swap

Body looks good, You could always swap to an S10 chassis if you want to get the tires inside the fenders. What's it worth? don't know.

Grandpa has pulled in a 54 to biuld, and we have a 69 rearend that were putting under it, and mesuring mounting surface to mounting suface they are the same width. I haven't checked the front, but the rear is the the right track.

As for the worth, what's it worth to you? I would think there's about 1500 to 2k in parts there. Grandpa bought his 54 for 600 buck, and it's practically rust free. Someone has done alot of work on the firewall and floor that don't look bad, so you will have to be your own judge.

$1500 is probably acceptable. You could run 66-77 Eldorado/Toronado wheels but then you are tied to them. Late model truck rims suck under a bit more but are VERY close to hitting the steering. I've got this front cradle on a 1 ton panel and I'm looking at 17" or so with some offset to pull them under.

got to talk to him a little this morning unless something comes up we are set at 1800. I figure its a good deal even him if do end up having to sell frame for an s10. hopefully body is as good as it looks in pics he says he took it down to bare metal and primed it all

wouldn't the eldo wheels be 5x4 3/4"?

oh the joy of a 71 front end. I have them on my 55 suburban & 58 fleetside. bolt pattern is 5 on 5" hard to find good wheels. steering box is on outside of frame. hardest part is getting the steering right, but it isnt hard. Buy IT

Was taking a look at the porterbuild drop members and other than cost looks like an easier fix for the track width and steering.

i personally would pass on this for anything above scrap prices! you can find these trucks and S-10 chassis are a dime a dozen. why not start with something fresh. i have a 59' thats on a 70' C-20 chassis that i purchased that way and the TF trucks fit ok on the later chassis. from my research AD trucks are best suited for upgraded frame using S-10 (CHEAP) with GM A- BODY clip grafted to it for proper track width. my current project a 56' 3100 panel sbc/3spd o.d. sounds cool if your 17 years old and what i mean is if i'm gonna be using o.d it should be a 700R4. the old left knee isn't what it used to be. keep shopping around. here anothe rthing i learned in the past when buying a stalled project is those "new parts" are usually out of warranty so you need to account for that. most of the time people overspend on the BLING and by the time the vehicle hits the road the parts are outdated.

The price isn't bad if the body will pass a thorough inspection. The one thing that worries me about buying somebody else's abandoned project is WHY the project was abandoned. I'm always thinking the seller ran into some problem that was going to cost major $ to fix, and naturally he isn't going to tell you what it is. Judging from the pics, you are missing quite a few parts needed to finish the body, so unless the seller is including those with the truck, that can run up the cost pretty fast.

As for the later chassis, the track width isn't going to be a problem if you run stock wheels. Of course if nothing less than foot-wide tires will do, and you want to drag it on the ground, you will need something narrower, like an S-10.

which body parts are youvtalking about i know about bumpers, running boards and steps are n his bed. his reasoning is cut hours at work.

Looks like nothing you can't pick up at a swap and haul in a Yugo. Running boards, bumpers, splash aprons, and bed aprons. What else is missing? Emblems? They fit in your mailbox!!

Look into Todd's (THilde) Dakota swap as well if you think you must change frames, but I think you can make it work with what you have.

It looks like the interior is picked pretty bare, and of course all the dash gauges and controls are gone. As with the exterior parts, you can usually manage to come up with most of this stuff, but it's still money, so ask the seller if he has any of it.
