softer suspention for AD trucks

I've been driving my truck a decent amount and am really liking the idea of keeping it mostly stock (except gearing). For those that have stayed with stock I beam and leafs, is there a way to soften up the ride a little. I don't mind it feeling like a truck Do the mono leafs give a better ride or could I just take out a couple leafs in my stacks?

Re: softer suspention for AD trucks

I am running Posies Super Slide springs on the rear of my 54 1/2 ton and believe it to be one of the best return on the dollar investments I have made to it. The springs are the same width as stock and bolt right in. They have two versions of the rear springs with one retaining the stock axle location and the other moving the axle rearward to center it in the fender. If you are running a stock torque tube drive train you will need the first one.

The Posies part number for the rear springs is 440 with the 440A being the modified one I am using.

They also offer front springs which are dual leaf.

Shackles and bolt kits are also available.

I highly recommend Posies from personal experience.

Re: softer suspention for AD trucks

Thank you for the info, I will check out the items they offer. The more reading I did last night makes me want to stay away from the mono leafs. BTW I love your truck! I like the stance and that it looks stock with some cool features you added as your own touch. I like the silver and I will end up darker more like a gun metal maybe. I hope you don't mind if I steal some of your ideas like the plate bracket and fog lights. Is that an S-10 rear bumber you are using? Great job.

Sounds like a great plan on your project.

I have no problem with anyone borrowing from what I have done. Just send check or money order in the amount of $500 to me or just give me some of the credit if your truck shows up in a magazine.

Enjoy your build.

Re: softer suspention for AD trucks

Thanks for the info.

Every time I look at his ad in the mag. there is a caption that says "rears coming soon !"
What you are telling me as soon is now !!

I set up my truck waiting for his rear springs to be on the market thanks for the report.
The next time you are under your truck would you take a measurment of your drive shaft length from center of "U" joint to "U" joint and if you could the distance from the center bolt on the spring to the rear eye on the rear shackle. Does it use the same shackles and bolts on the front and rear? Did you use the same shock location as the stock 54?
What size tires are you running on the rear?
It would be nice to see a pic of the side view, and thanks for your help
