Jeesh.... Are you freaking KIDDING me???? 4 out of 4 Delta Pro tool boxes we got from Pickup Specialties had defects or damage....
 That has to be some kind of new record for getting CRAP!!!  Going to totally swap manufacturers as well as who I buy it from & we'll see if that make a freaking difference! Going to go with the commercial grade versions from Brute & see how that goes. Keep your fingers crossed! |

The new one we get should look about like this one. Of course, we'll have to get it powder coated black to match, but we were gonna need to do that with this one anyhow...
Oh, and here's you a pic of the crappy quality of the Delta box... And this is one they said they personally "inspected" prior to shipping!!! |

That is some poor quality control on the tool box. For the cost of the tool box initially, and all the time you have in trying to get one, plus shipping, you should find a fabricator to build a custom one to fit your needs. And personally on your truck if I was going to do any body mods, I'd do one of these two. The first is easier than the second.
1. Remove the rear door window none opening section to make it look bigger like newer trucks. 2. Cut the cab and rear door right down the middle and add about 4-6" in there and reassemble. I have always wanted to do these to my square. Like I said the first one would be a walk in the park compared to the second. But IMO both will set a truck apart from the others.

The rear window trick I kind of looked into because I liked the 1-pc front glass kit from One Piece Products, but there's just nothing out there for it... The issue wouldn't be the glass, it'd be the wiper seals, window channels, etc.
As for stretching the cab, I am not much on that... I really don't even like those silly Mega Cab things from Dodge... And don't need the back door to look like it's off a limo or anything really... Plus, if I did something like that, if ANYTHING ever happened, that door would need to be totally fabricated again rather than just buying a new stamping, prepping it & painting it. |

Originally that was what I wanted to put behind it, but just couldn't seem to source one or the parts we needed for it, so just went with the ever venerable NV4500. Only real advantage of the 6-speed over my 5-speed is the spacing between the lower gears - overdrive is still basically the same ratio.

I thought about stretching the cab on my 76, because I'm going to make it a short box, so if I did that I wouldn't have to shorted the frame, but its a totally rust free cab so I don't really want to cut it up, so I guess the frame is getting shortened.

Frame shortening is a WHOLE lot easier & less involved than hacking the cab that's for sure!!! I like the look of the short beds, but have always been a long bed guy for whatever reason... Plus, with the big, honking chest tool box & spare tire mount going back there - it wouldn't leave a whole lotta room back there for anything else in a short bed!

yeah it is, I was only thinking about the frame being weaker after shortening it, but if done right it should be fine. plus the cab is rust free, and i just can't cut it up.

Im not saying the 4500 is bad I just thought the 650 was rated for more and assuming that's true which im not it wouldn't matter unless your hard on it or pull heavy loads and its fun having 1 extra gear to play with :-p

And so it begins....
Kevin is currently installing the seemingly MILES of wiring from the Painless Wiring harness. He's gotta wait for my ididit column to come in to wire up that side of it & install the new wiper module kit as well. He's also got all the plumbing sources & ordered for the power steering system & engine oil cooler. Hopefully will have more pics tomorrow of all the progress! |

looking good, one question though, if you going to have a push button start are you still going to have a key for the door? Ive thought a lot about doing this to mine but if i still have so carry a key around for the door then why not put one more on the ring for the ignition, or I thought about having the doors and ignition keyed the same then there would still only be one key. Even if you going to do something like a keyless entry you still have to carry around the key fob then. So I've been trying to think of a way to make it so I don't have to have a key for the ignition or the doors.
