I pulled the headliner out of my truck because my FiL has filled it full of holes for surface mount speakers and stuff for the CB. That all got tossed.

I remember seeing a truck here with some sort of modernized headliner that had room to stow stuff. Maybe I could put in some tiny tweeters, too, when I get around to putting speakers in the truck. If the person who had that headliner or one like post a pic or a link? I'm 5'-9" and everyone else is shorter, so I'll have some room to play with. Though the son who expects to get it when I kick the bucket might have to have it sized for him, and he's a little over 6' tall. We'll see.

I'm thinking that I might make the new headliner out of that "expanded PVC" (?) material that someone recently made a console out of. Any pointers there?

I have the highliner head liner in my truck. The 10 watt speakers that come with it are loud enough for me. I added a CB in the radio opening, and a Marine 12volt plug and dual usb chargers in the face. Im 5'9" and its not close to my head at all. Its held in place with about 12 perimeter screws.

That must be the picture I saw here. I wasn't expecting a radio mount, but if/when I get this done, it'll be a great place to dock my iPod and djinn up some kind of Bluetooth interface so I can have hands-free cell phone capability. Probably ought to do this first, before making speaker boxes and mounting them in the bed behind the window opening.

Those guys aren't that far from me. I have an errand to run not far from there, so I'll check stock come time to do it, and just pick it up.

FWIW - My 72 came with the Highliner headliner. I believe they were the supplied speakers (labeled Magnadyne AS590B). With a Retrosound Laguna, they had zero bass and sounded like my first transistor radio in 1968. Just this month, I replaced them with Pioneer TS-G400 speakers from Crutchfield (great folks to deal with). Huge improvement! It isn’t the kid stuff rattle-the-windows a block away bass, but substantial enough for me.

I'm 6'4" and the location is not an issue.

Yeah, I'm just looking for tunage. That bazooka stuff is something I wouldn't have done, even when I was 17. How that passes for music is a mystery to me. I'll keep your information in mind. Most of my family appears to be tone deaf. BUT, my eldest son actually played viola in the LA Junior Philharmonic, and was first chair viola when he was in the high school orchestra. He's in the USAF now, in Japan, working on KC-135s. I'm looking forward to seeing him in mid-May, after his extended stay there.

I can't believe I still have no tunes in my '72 I've had since '01! Partly because back then I had a bunch of trucks and a long to-do list. I have old stereos to install. Last year I bought '72 door panels for cheap because someone had cut 6 1/2s in below the arm rest. PERFECT! Not a thing I ever would have done (I'd have cut the door below

), but someone else did so I dyed them saddle, so they are ready and waiting

I lost tunage when I worked on the roof just before putting the new camper shell on. So, just a little over a year.
