My Brother has a 89 Chev step side. where can he find production numbers.

Zero. They have all been Sportsides since the '88s were introduced. Sorry I can't help with Sportside production numbers

As mentioned they "officially" are no longer called stepsides. Are they rare, NO. If my old notes are accurate, the RPO Code is E62. Not sure if the Heritige Center would have something that new.
