Broken spare tire hanger / stuck

My 2007 silverado work truck spare tire hanger is broken and I cannot remove the spare tire. Anybody else have this problem? The crank mechanism seems to be broken What can I do?

What is the best way to "cut" this cable. Here is the end of the cable. Anybody try to melt this weld off the end? I have a plumbers torch handy.

Re: Broken spare tire hanger / stuck

There is a metal hook up inside farther that prevents the spare from falling if the cable breaks. I’ve found it normally rusts solid here in the snow states. I remove the bolt and pry it off the frame but either way you’ll need a new one.
