==1955-59 1/2 ton PANEL...6-lug?

Okay - I found an unreal (and I hate the overused !&^*% term but...)
"barn find".


Barn?...well, in a garage for 20+ years...1955 2nd 1/2 TON PANEL.

((Now for you hot rod guys, tune out on this part...you won't appreciate it.
You'll just be doing the math on how much these parts'd be worth in scrap $, to put toward the purchase of a Heidt's front end or something!))

...it's an honest, original 1955 2nd that's a V8 truck,
looks like a 4-speed.
~the 265 c.i. is still there, complete including the air cleaner, generator...fender V8 emblems...all of it. Been sitting for years, but it turns.

If I get it, it's staying in there...not 350 here.

dash is perfetm and o are the floors. Whole bodylooks great.
If I get it, that's a whole 'nother thread on here...

~Truck is on rotten, old tires (even though it was inside).
~If we go get it, I wanted to take some GM early wheels with, to put on and roll it...have options for sale here right now locally:
1948-54 6-lug, and
1960-66 6-lug.

~Q=I just need to know - aren't the 1955-59 1/2 tons the SIX-LUG?
~Q=Same 6-lug spacing as 1948-54 1/2 TON TRUCKS?
I can take some of those with me if we pick it up...

Six lug spacing is the same for all years of chevy/gmc trucks. I have a set of stock wheels from a '95 chevy that bolted right up in the rear, but not the front. The center hole is what might give you trouble. I dont know about 60-66, but any older than 60 should be fine. Also, be aware of your back spacing - if you have a lot of back spacing there's a good chance your wheels will hit your tie rod ends.

I hate to say it but.......................my 22 2nd series panel has five yes 5 lug hubs. I was told that was correct for the 2nd series. I also know that the rear end in my panel was updated to match the 327 sbc it had untill the po pulled it.

I swear I have seen 1955-56s with original (1/2 ton) 5-lugs, and some with 6-lugs...?

I am looking at all the pictures I have of the Panel...cannot see. I want to know if I should take early 5-lug wheels to roll it, or buy some 6-lugs to take.

Owner cannot check because they live in town "A", I am in another, and the Panel is stored in a 3rd state!

A popular swap some years ago was 53-4 Chevy car hubs and drums. They look stock, but all of the Chevy drum brake trucks from at least the mid 30s to 1970 are six lug.
